I'm not a good source for strategy, I just like posting here so people can tell me why I'm wrong.

If I want bet on recovery, all I'm looking for is high Beta. Beta is already reversion to a benchmark index so I trust it more than other metrics like EPS in Clown Market. I don't use official Beta, I eyeball it by overlaying competitors in one sector on a year to date and see which one has more recovering to do.

Second step is far more important, dig into the financials. I'm optimistic about 2021 but some companies are well and truly fucked. Maybe there's a reason WFC tanked and BAC didn't. To bet on recovery I also have to bet on solvency. I picked only one restaurant, DENN. Looked into it after it was shilled here and found they got PPP loans for 99% of franchisees and huge tax rebates for corporate.

FWIW I got both Carnival and Norwegian, I just want to be part of the meltup and bail when we're half way there because it will be volatile for years. It's one thing to say there will be growth in 2021, but how are you going to commission new cruise ships and plan for the future when every industry is suffering waves and waves of supply disruptions? I'm going to bail on all these picks eventually. TQQQ or bust.

Meanwhile some companies have already secured their future, but nobody seems to have noticed. Puts on DENN are high premium right now, as if it could go bankrupt at any moment.
>Would you use my equation to predict an ability for recovery?
Possibly. Is it current EPS? Then you're accounting for current market sentiment, that seems like it could have some advantage over Beta which is basically saying everything will revert to mean, but some things have more reverting to do. It might be worth doing some simulations to compare. I would say most retail is doing some version of eyeballing Beta, under a line go down? line must go up! theory. Just don't forget the fundamentals. Some companies are actually going to go bankrupt because they're not in a position to recover.

You actually want some bit of growth and just average the cost basis if you're dripping. Downwards sloping stocks or stagnant picks like F or T will just do more harm in the long run since any div yield you get will get fucked by inflation and taxes. If you have a fat enough roll, you can even go for bonds and skip the cherry picking for your income portfolio altogether.

Anyway just put it all in TQQQ if you want to make it. The only good ETFs are leveraged ETFs, everything else is just memes you can do better without paying the fee. For example, you can take SPY, look at the top 10 holdings, and invest proportional to their market cap, then rebalance once a month. quantitatively inclined anon here in response to the fellow asking about estimating FTD shares

The SEC provides FTD for all securities at regular intervals
https://www.sec.gov/data/foiadocsfailsdatahtm
the latest available is through August of this year, so I was hoping to see if I could correlate it to any of the short data metrics from ortex (Estimated SI, short volume) and try and make some predictions about FTD shares into September

Unfortunately even the best predictor (the finite differences derivative of the SI, i.e. daily change in estimated SI) was very crappy, with all of it's predictive power driven by a single FTD outlier of 347,372 shares on the 25th of August. Essentially the data is too noisy and incomplete for a "quick and dirty" empirical approach.

Just to ameliorate concerns about settlement time
(it takes 2 business days for share transactions to settle which is when shares actually FTD, but the SEC wasn't super clear about whether the date in their data was the transaction date or the settlement date)
I tried testing against predictors timeshifted by T-2, but then all the correlations went to essentially zilch (no relationship) which makes me think the SEC date is the transaction date.

I'm gonna try to put together some sort of differential equation model for the shares (imagine modeling a tank filling with water) but it's gonna take some time, because
a) I don't work in quantitative finance
b) I couldn't find anything relevant to work off with a cursory literature search - everyone just reads the SEC numbers

It's anyone's guess. I doubt traders are going to sell until it reaches 55-60. Why would traders sell at 45-50? For 5-10% gain...when traders expect 20%+

If I had to throw a ballpark figure. If markets are green it could go NKLA high...60+.

If markets are red 50-55.

It'll be fun, but unlike NKLA. This company has structure, a viable product, a truck that's better than any other EV semi, including Tesla. Once it receives 300+ million dollars from SPAC, it'll lead to more good news as time goes on.

This chart is like saying, if you took the tech mega caps since 1990 they CRUSHED everyone else and showed a graph of Netflix, FaceBerg, Google, Apple and Amazon, when an accurate chart would include Dell, HP, Sun, Sony and Yahoo.

The people will forget and society will go on as designed. Pain and suffering will still persist at the designed levels. Comfort and leisure aren’t profitable.

Here's what's going to happen, you're going to lull yourself into a false sense of confidence wasting your time with your monopoly stonks and then as soon as you have actual skin in the game you're going to panic and buy high and sell low just like every other beginner. It's like a retarded kid with a hot stove, the only real way to learn is to burn your hand.
