I feel bad for everyone pushing GME on here to noobies. You know full well we could all be bagholders, especially considering economic situation the states are in. It's a dying business on life support with a new console cycle. AMZN just released their own gaming service.

I implore every GMEr retard to at least read this thread:
>>/biz/thread/S19093457
And compare it to the dialogue by GMEtards vs the so-called anti-GME "institutional shills". Please read it for yourself and, if you don't see the near-identical conversation, then clearly you're all but lost and nothing can save you.

We are up against huge institutions that can drop millions like they're peanuts to keep GME in single digits forever. They have deeper pockets and can wait years if that's what it takes. They are thinking GME will go bankrupt after this console cycle and it very well may. Already closed 600 stores. Cohen is a last ditch effort, plus he's already made 2x his money. Burry already took profits and bailed. If you got in at 4 or 6 congrats, you 2x your money. Everyone else...

Sell now, lock in profits. Walk away from the table before you get burned. BURNED!!!

I said $30 based just on my speculation. It currently sits at ~$1. It was up at $20 back in 2011 before the market was inflated to how it is nowadays. That was during the Obama-era EPA bullshit that shafted the Pebble mine because it would harm China's copper monopoly and Obama's EPA refused to even issue an EIS on the project. Fast foward to now and the EIS has been released, it was extremely positive and stated that there would be no harm done to the Bristol Bay Fisheries. Trump has also been favorable to the project. When it is approved I think it could honestly get up to $30 depending on how far the hype goes, it was at $20 when nothing was happening so 30 isn't that far out there. Just a reminder the Pebble mine is THE largest undeveloped source of copper, gold and molybdenum in the world. The only people that oppose it are Chinese paid shills that want America reliant on foreign copper.

I'm holding quite a few GME calls right now, and I was wondering if someone who understands shorting and margin better than me could explain something. I've seen a lot of people talking about a sudden +20% or +30% price increase triggering liquidations and starting starting the squeeze. This Monday, however, GME hit +25% and it did not cause a squeeze. So I'm just wondering if anyone has a good explanation for why that didn't do it, or what kind of sudden pump would actually trigger liquidations. Or is something like tender offer the only real chance here?

GME is also a different beast from the usual pump and dump. You cannot equate tankers or even WKHS to GME.

like it's still priced as a value trap even now just because of how excessive the short selling was. All it takes is a quick look at its financials and comparing it to other retail picks to see that it's still undervalued. That's why it's still reasonable for newbies to enter it, their downside potential is what, 20% short-term?
I always use this comparison but it has a price-to-sales ratio that's lower than fucking Bed Bath & Beyond.

it's ultimately a speculative gamble. We're all adults here and you figure out how much you can afford to risk. Everything has fucking risk, you decide on your own what risk-reward is worth it for you.

well if you looked at the statistics you'd realize the institutions barely covered and it's why it only went up 2x, short interest only decreased by ~10 million from March to April.
turns out the institutions figured they could just eat up the borrowing fees short-term because these aren't retail short sellers and Gamestop was probably going to go bankrupt very soon because of corona.

Fast forward a few months later and suddenly GME bonds are back to parity, no one believes they're going bankrupt anymore. No one expected government bux to be so much. And now there's even some Cohen dude giving pivot hope for GME. This was basically a black swan for the short sellers.

instead of spreading FUD, how bout you tell us how short sellers will defuse the situation? They have to cover eventually, squeeze or not.

says. Also tankers were right with all their DD, EXCEPT the part where they thought whales weren't immune from market dynamics. Turns out they can manipulate anything anywhere anytime. This will happen once again with GME: there will be no short squeeze.
The catalyst for tankers was supposed to be:
- Oil supplies filling up the world over
- Greatly increased use of tankers for oil storage
- Contango v2 approaching
All 3 were realized. Not only that, every tanker reported historically record-breaking profit and guidance in every direction. That only moved the stocks downward.

Etc.

My thesis is that BECAUSE the INSTITUTIONAL short volume is so high, THERE WILL BE NO SHORT SQUEEZE. If institutional short would magically unwind without changing the price whatsoever, such that the short interest could hit, say, 10%, then you MIGHT see a squeeze.
The main concept is that whales are far, far more powerful than you believe. They are immune from normal market dynamics and will not let their shorts blow up. They aren't infinitely powerful though, which is why they can get burned when they're not LITERALLY ALL PILED ON THE SAME POSITION, since then they're actually at war on who wins the position.

I agree, should have had a bigger position earlier and scaled back, but as a technical trader I'm comfortable with following the trend. Look at the chart, clear bullish breakout with lots of respect at the 8 and 21 EMAs. This looks a lot like Overstock (OSTK) when it was running up earlier in the year. That ticker also had a large short float but nowhere near over 100% lmao. There's still potent catalysts on the horizon with console season and the short interest/squeeze potential is really just the cherry on top. When (if) GME starts showing actual downside pressure I'll consider getting out but as of right now it just isn't there and the bears are in trouble right now.

In all honesty, as a current GME holder, it's probably best to get out during the next console cycle. $30 share price by 2021-2022 is quite reasonable.

This console cycle (new PS5 and X Box) will have disk drives, but the next one won't. GME's entire business model collapses when you consider that.

The only reason I'd stay is if Cohen somehow proves to be the Lisa Su of Gamestop, and even then i'd probably take my profits and just buy back in later with a smaller position

there are too many uncertainties with Gamestop past 5 years. The reddit faggots are finally jumping in and FOMOing, and the Cohen hype will make them assume that anything is possible like Gamestop becoming a Steam competitor or something. Reality will set in after Q4 so sell the news on Q4 assuming it will be like FedEx-tier breaking expectations (not hard with how low GME expectations have been for the last 2 years)

by Q4 or maybe even earlier, Q3 or November, Gamestop won't be a value pick anymore.

GME buy-out at this stage would fuck over current retail share-holders. You have a dream-team right now, Ryan Cohen, Reggie Fils-Aimee, Hestia-Permit, and Burry.

Reggie turned Nintendo around. Cohen made Chewy, worth billions of dollars. Hestia-Permit are good at due-dilligence and corporate management (will get rid of all the parasite/obsolete boomers in GME's management structure).

The cherry-on-top is Burry, who will just drive more investors to re-consider the "GME is just the next Blockbuster" shilling and will get more hedge-funds/institutional investors to start buying.

if they wait it out, then consider taking your profits by Q4 even if short interest remains high.
At that point you just reassess if Cohen is actually going to be amazing for Gamestop. If it becomes anything like CHWY's success, then those MMs or hedgefunds just dug themselves into a deeper deeper hole and Gamestop will rally over time like TSLA.
On the flip side, if it's turning out like that's not going to happen or it's not clear. Then yeah, just take your profits or reduce your position at least.

who fucking knows what will happen then. There's no point thinking about it because the first issue is what Cohen is going to do first. Is he going to buy out the company or be CEO by a shareholder vote? Will either one have a chance of triggering a squeeze or will most shareholders just pass on voting entirely?

I don't even know how the fuck a shareholder vote will work when there are 74 million shares owned by institution, more than the outstanding shares.
