I wouldn't say it's a waste of money if it makes you happy. That said, I sleep on the floor and am typing this from a desktop sitting on a cardboard box so I'm basically the OP pic. I probably wouldn't consider getting furniture until I owned a house.

I truly do miss the times when I could live as a minimalist bachelor. Now I'm married with keedz and surrounded by furniture. My office has become my solace. I still go in even though they want everyone to work from home.

I have all my clothes folded neatly on one of those pantry racks, I sleep on the floor that I vacuum every other day. Honestly most of my apartment is empty. My few books I have are in boxes I have an ITX build in the NCase M1. I use the space just to exercise. Can’t have a bench because I’m on 3rd floor. You don’t need anything it’s all just vanity

Nice furniture is really cheap now at second hand stores. The boomers are downsizing and no one's kids want old world quality anymore when they can have Ikea. If you've got the space and go to the right places you can pick up 1k+ furniture pieces for a song.

Unironicly, even if I bought YFI Early and made it. I would still live like a this. Maybe move to a nicer, more quiet area but where I live is fine for now. All my media is digital and only stuff I truly value is physical, only have one anime figure and it’s a Fire Emblem Lucina figma. I rather invest in my body than my assets
