The Turing-3 Testnet is now LIVE with over 20 participants validating to support the network.

This testnet can be viewed at: explorer.sentinel.co

The incentivized testnet will begin on the 28th of September and end on the 15th of October.

The Testnet will not only incentivize stable and resilient performance, but will also encourage participants to compromise Sentinel's custom built Cosmos based modules (e.g transaction escrow)

The Turing-3 testnet will primarily feature and provide infrastructure for the Sentinel v3 client. The Sentinel v3 client is Sentinel’s new all-in-one dVPN + Cosmos based wallet application.

The Sentinel v3 Client introduces:

A User-friendly installation process without the requirement for downloading and installing additional packages
A new Wireguard integration to allow for users to connect to server hosts who are hosting wireguard protocol based nodes. Wireguard offers users improved privacy and networking speeds
A cosmos based wallet allowing for users to send transactions as well as delegate to validators present powering the Turing-3 testnet
A micro-services architecture

The new Sentinel dVPN micro-services architecture is a very critical update as it allows for tremendous scalability and integration, such as:

Remote management of Sentinel dVPN present in home router/raspi
Ability for enterprises/organizations to build applications on-top of the Sentinel network with dynamic UI that is maintained from their own server (users do not need to download a new installer for a UI update)
Ability for other applications to integrate Sentinel dVPN services and account system into their application

Participants can host a validator on the Turing-3 testnet by following the documentation at:

https://github.com/sentinel-official/docs/blob/master/guides/testnets/turing-3/README.md

if you decide to do it, you have to be fast cause they will be locking the validator set soon

i think we should differentiate in the above post i was talking about validators nodes, most users won't need to host them and shouldn't be concerned with them, hosting a validator node will always require some type of technical knowledge cause you are securing other people stakes, normal users will be able to stake on validator nodes and earn 15-25% yearly interest

on the other hand dvpn nodes can be hosted trivially even right now and after the v3 client launches it will become even easier , hosting a dvpn node allows you to sell your bandwidth

for anyone that wants to host a openvpn sentinel dVPN node, here is a video walk through :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK2cd731Jr4 [Embed]

here is a github text guide:

https://github.com/sentinel-official/sentinel/blob/master/vpn-node-docker/README.md

here is a github guide for the ikev 2 nodes:

https://github.com/sentinel-official/sentinel/tree/ikev2_modifications/ikev2-node

after main net SENT will also launch its own multi hop relay net which will initially have 3 types of nodes:

-relay node which will never come in contact with unencrypted dats thats what normal users will host it will only relay traffic between themself and to a exit nodes
-normal exit nodes which will require more expert users and will be subject to the same precautionary measures as when you host a tor node.
-tor exit node here the exit node funnels the data into tor its thought for people that run tor nodes already to offer them revenue for their service

you will be able to exit directly into tor think of it as a way to reach security through layering:
your pc > relay node 1 > relay node 2 > relay node 2 >....any x n relay >> exit node > tor exit node > tor entry > tor relay > tor exit.
(you can add as many relay nodes as you want, if even one of them is safe you will be protected from surveillance)

first of all there is already 20 validators running smoothly, second ask in sentinel tg chat if you encounter problems maybe you haven't updated the hub to the latest config, but its surely an user error as all other validators haven't encountered problems and there is no downtime for anyone since launch, validators shouldn't be hosted by users without technical knowledge

"Sentinel is a dVPN net its not a single dvpn"

dVPN-net

sentinel is many vpns:

sentinel decentralizes both the back end (by letting anyone host a node) and the front-end (by letting anyone build on top of the open sourced apps)

sentinel goal is to have hundreds of VPNs built upon it with many payments options, languages and different set of features , anybody can easily become a VPN provider without the need to own hardware, and given the decentralized nature of the whole system you will never have any legal problems by launching your sentinel based app

you need to be able to have it always online have minimum ram 8gb and have some backup hardware cause you are testing to become custodian and securing other peoples money, some validators run their hardware in special buildings with special HSM modules and offgrid electric backups

sentinel thanks to cosmos IBC is built to scale horizontally so many dvpns blockchain zones can be deployed and the central sentinel hub can get used for value settlement and staking, scaling is literally the reason why sentinel choose to build on cosmos instead of ethereum (also chain customization)

sentinel is a layer 2 solution for tor like the lightning network is a layer 2 solution for bitcoin

TOR by itself is not enough, by allowing any consumer to monetize its own bandwidth sentinel will reach a higher node count then tor by 2022, also sentinel relay net allows to decide the amounts of hops your node goes through thus ensuring probabilistic privacy.

monetization can make it faster cause if you pay more you will have higher priority and access to nodes with higher bandwidth and lower latency, premium service > free service in terms of quality , also sentinel allows to host free nodes too, so you have the best of both worlds.

tor node hosts can host a sentinel node at the same time and get payed for teir service
