xDai works right now and
Vitalik has no solution in time to fix this.
While most projects search for the holy grail "betamax" solution, xdai gives you "vhs" with porn on it.

OMG is a childchain with ETH's consensus, while xDai is a sidechain, PoA consensus. There are many good sidechains (xDai, Optimistic, Loopring, etc..) and each sidechain has it's own consensus mechanism that you must trust! ...but there's only one good trustless childchain, and that's OMG.
