Could try tapering down by doing 1mg 2x a day and slowly reduce dosage over time. An alternative like I mentioned earlier is to switch to a benzo with a longer half life. Other than Diazepam there is Clonazepam (Klonopin) which effects I hear lasts all day, not sure about it's half life though.

I started on Xanax but had to move onto diazepam because of the longer life.
No Dr in my country will give me a script so i have to buy online.
Even tapering off is difficult and i've never managed to do it.
I've done a heroin withdrawal (easy) when i was younger but benzos are another league.
Always trying to start a taper but even that can make you suicidal quickly.
Worst thing i ever did was turn to benzos and it's been nearly 10 years now.
To make things worse it's getting much more difficult to buy them since the covid started.
If you have a Dr's script that's more comfy at least.
