i watched as link went from 10 cents to 20 dollars (cad) and didn't buy in like an idiot until i got a small stack at $4; when it started jumping above $10 I converted some to eth to invest in some alt coins, and now it's just a matter of holding.

if you invest in altcoins to make money immediately like others, you will lose your money. they dump very clearly because they offer an incredible RoI for some people in the world; what $100 US means to you, could mean weeks of food for your family elsewhere in the world.

Alt coins rarely do better than bitcoin. In the last run, they were a gold mine once the rally started. Literally 3 of the 4 years btc was better, and even during the rally year only some profited until the blow off top at the end of the year.

Assuming we see another run, and things happen as before, early next year would be when alts could start making sense again. That's iffy. I'm not convinced the "four year cycle" is proven yet, with the last being an ico craze/eth based and the first being price discovery after the first halving, when home computers still crunched the network and price was low. Dynamics are way different now, and futures killed the last run. Hell they are expiring this week and look at what the market has done. Cryptos hype based major cycles may be over, there's negative pressure now that wasn't here before through those futures. Working products that deliver real benefits and attract institutional money/backing is my bet for the "next run". So far defi hasn't shown anything but novelty and appeals only to those already gambling in crypto.

my problem is knowing when to sell the top... Im in this endless cycle where Ill buy the dip and hodl but Ill end up missing the top cuz I think we will go higher but eventually we just end up correcting even lower then before sometimes. When theres a really good dump (40-50% off on Alts) Ill either be asleep and miss the opportunity or Ill get soo frustrated from buying the dip and then watching the dip dip that ill just wait for a higher high and before I know it, weve already pumped 10-15% so its pointless to buy in when we are already nearing another top. If only II knew when to sell the top... I use EMA's a lot so maybe looking for EMA crossover's on higher timeframes like the 1 hour or 4 hour?
