I had direct exposure twice, both times I got sick a few days after. Sudden onset of sore throat, runny nose, light cough, extreme vertigo, blurry eyesight, light breif fever and this mental haze where I would forget things and fall over a lot. Both times it lasted 4 days and day 5 I was right to go outside and live life normally. The worst part was the forgetfulness, I picked up a parcel in my haze from the delivery guy and when I went to sign I couldn't remember what unit number I was in, I said the wrong one and almost lost my parcel had to check my keys. Second time I had to write my date of birth down for a ticket to win a car, I wrote the wrong date.
Guy I share an apartment with said pretty much the same thing happened same time to him.

I'm a covid icu nurse, it's all memes. I had it and slept a lot, scratchy throat, bad headache a couple days. Was up and running again after a bit over a week. Never even went to the doctor. Same thing with my coworkers who caught it. Some said it was pretty rough, almost as bad as the flu. One said it was mild but she totally lost her sense of smell and it didn't come back until 3 weeks later. It's a real virus but it's not dangerous or deadly unless you are a person who shouldn't be living anyway. Only fatasses with heart failure and kidney problems and/or diabetes really seem to suffer from it. The pulmonary edema surprised me a few times how quick it came on, but of course that's all shifting pressures and shit on top of shitty baseline cardiac output. Just a little pink bloody foam in the tube, suck it up, strap them to the bed, and slam a little fentanyl and versed and they hold on another 10 hours or so. Day shifts problem at that point. I already hated fat and ord people but it's really hard to be compassionate towards the very pieces of shit who are responsible for crashing the economy, making everything shut down early, and inconveniencing me on an unimaginable scale. Half the time I go straight for restraints and sedatives. Yeah opioids are first line treatment and you still feel pain when tied down or sedated, but that's what I want. I feel like there should be consequences. Half the worthless piece of shit won't even pay the full hospital bill so I really feel no obligation to go beyond keeping their useless ass alive long enough to hand off to the next shift.

So we said fuck it and went in without mask. We got a few weird looks but no one said anything and one older took off her mask as well.
