Kind of like stocks. You give eth to someone in exchange to hope they can make more with the eth on the project

Liquidity pool tokens. All of these work with balancer, which is a new technology that kind of functions as an index fund of crypto tokens. Older "pools" are between 50/50 between tokens. With LP you can swap between tokens faster.
