idk it's a time thing to me. i know the VXX is rigged to go down over time because of in contango decay and the nature of volatility in general. it has reverse split multiple times in its history. the main optimizing question i think about is whether it's better to just put in all of the money you're gonna trade with at the 30-40 range and just accept that sometimes it'll go higher and you just have to wait it out, or if it's better to be able to take advantage of those big (though rare) big volatility spikes. shit like 2008 and covid in 2020 are literally once-in-a-decade events, they were 12 years apart ffs. you just have to be able to handle not getting margin called if the fucking apocalypse gets priced it, or at least have the wherewithal to change your shorting plan if the FA reflects that possibility i guess.

It’s actually not stocks but my general life. Unironically stocks have made my life better and give me hope financially. Given I made 60k, before the pandemic, off of around 3k. I learned too much while having terrible risk judgement and without understanding the market. So I was powerfully on the right side until I wasn’t. I have came a long way since then though and just need one good opportunity. Then I think I could manage it correctly now with proper strategies to decently build on it and live ok. It’s just the shitty life bites living through the time of not acting on or finding the opportunities yet, every now and again.
