Do you even know how marriage works in the west?

I did a Christian marriage. I don't believe in putting government before God. I don't think it will offer too much protection but I don't live in a common law state. At the least it is a small hurdle and might make her think twice before trying any funny business. If we have kids we'd stay together for the kids even if shit got rough. Married or not you can be required to pay child support so short of stealthing it and getting her pregnant and being OK with never seeing her or child again which defeats the entire purpose of making a baby your finances are at risk.
I think the no marry crowd has a lot of overlap with the no babies crowd. Financially both are unwise, but life is not just a minmaxing finances game. Lifting offers health benefits but getting swole and roiding is also financially unwise. Look at how much food and gear costs, the savings on medical bills and preventable disease were there at 160lbs and 12% bf. Getting to 190lbs and 9% costs a lot more but offers little if any further health gains. Still a worthy goal despite the fact.
