Firstly imagine unironically believing government unemployment stats.
Secondly we are the very beginning of this recession. In 2008 the GDP fell by a total 6%, and everyone remembers how bad that was. This yeat the GDP fell by 10% in the second quarter only, and will keep on falling, it's just that most people haven't felt it yet because the government has tried to keep things a float thanks to stimulus and furlough programs. But they'll eventually end.
Thirdly we are at the end of out long term debt cycle, even without the corona we'd be facing an economic depression soon.
