What is the purpose of holding this coin? It pays return in vUSD and vETH (with no receivable value), and just gets farmed by people staking other actually established coins. Please explain to a damn brainlet like myself why this is meant to appreciate in value

You're exactly right - the token itself does nothing currently except provide governance votes. The thought is that the vault coming out in 2 weeks should provide a better reason to hold YFV rather than just farming it with LINK and dumping it when the price gets to your comfy point. People are speculating on its future usage, rather than what it does today. Given shit like Ripple and Cardano exist and have billions of market cap, it's not too surprising.

Looking at the governance model YFV holders can vote to reduce payouts from staking other tokens which would in turn reduce the incentive of stakers to use the platform but reduce supply to increase token value (from a pure supply perspective). Alternatively they can vote to increase payout to increase platform usage which would lead to an inflated circulating supply. My feeble mind does not understand this at all and I think i have brain damage from the last 3 days trying to read through their telegram
