Does anyone else collect coins? I'm Australian, you guys might know that when we decimalised our currency we made our 50 cent coin out of silver, then the price spiked and the government had to stop doing that and recall the silver coins. That was in 1966, these coins are worth ~11 AUD now. You can still find them floating around, remember to grab them if you can. I inherited like 9 from my great grandma, feels good lol

Only when crossing borders but not all borders. I'd be afraid of going into and out of the USA, Australia, Canada... you get the picture. On a per-capita basis I think parts of Europe are far in excess of America in terms of PM stacking and the secondary market is very liquid. And, people are less allergic to PM's in Europe than America. I can totally imagine American stackers trying to exit the country after they realise all is lost and having their shit packed and their stacks taken from them and accused of all sorts of shit and then either thrown in jail, barred from exit or allowed to leave but only with the shirt on their back.

Most governments will go after gold rather than silver. Americans that are smart will have already started moving their PM's out of the USA bit by bit. It's obvious the trend is in place for most Americans to migrate internally as shit gets worse but it's not going to help you long term as the USA breaks up and it becomes 5th world. In the next 10+ years.

The real question is if it's possible for Americans to leave and the answer to that seems to be: no. Europe doesn't want to deal with Americans and neither does most of Asia... though both are happy to take your money but not necessary give you normal services (like a bank account) that even people from Africa would have. This is a direct result of American Government overreach.

Smarter Americans have already gotten rid other their citizenship.

So, to answer your original question, Governments will not generally go out of their way to take your gold but they certainly will like to keep it from going out and if it's coming in to grab it.

depends how much money you have. most people here say 1:100 Au:Ag ratio. lately pundits have said 5-10% of your total net worth is conservative. they also say "gold is not bought as an investment but as a store of wealth / hedge against inflation", which is of course bullshit because you're going to see mad gains in miners once the hangover from the retards on tech bubble 2.0 gambling their way into a crumpled up grumpy bear wear off.

there's a shit ton of money out there, it'll eventually pile into stocks of miners. I'd say buy whatever Eric Sprott is buying, that's what I'm doing (limited to holdings in Australia).

as for physical gold, it's the most faked commodity, so you probably want to go with someone reputable. this problem will get worse with time, so it also pays to look into tech that can test the metals reliably if you're looking to get into the business at all.

short term there are more gains to be made in miners. the point of PM is not to get the world's biggest hoard, it's to time your entry into non PM assets such as to get the best bang for your buck, you need assets that bring in profits (not stonks which are crap) longer term but this moment is a good time to get rich very quickly off miners.

this is the greatest image ever made in PMG

Question for all of you. Say you wake up one fine morning [x] months from now only to find that the moon mission is happening. All your miners are green, some of your juniors even went 10x or more. the gold silver ratio is under 45. AG and AU are both soaring over their previous ATH. What do you do, and how quickly do you do it?

I ask because I'm wondering what I would do. Would it be time to sell all my miners? or are they going to have staying power as we go into a new paradigm? Would I sell off my silver to buy mostly gold? If this happened tomorrow, would I be fucked for not having a more solid plan?

Share with me your thoughts so we can all better prepare.

plan my future /pmg!

35yo Aussie
poker player, live in a city.

own my place of residence (paid off) with attached airbnb (worth maybe 700k AUD)
1 poz geared triplex investment property (worth 800k, mortgage 550k).
total income ~2500/wk, mortgage payments 300ish/wk.

been stacking hard the last 2 years, have 100k in PM, about 80k silver and 20k gold. Another 10k in miners.

Torn between putting income into paying off 2nd mortgage, or keep stacking (or sell the IP?). I know the debate of whether the US will be deflationary or inflationary is heavily influenced by the fact they are the reserve currency. Is Australia and the other fiats more likely to be purely inflationary, and therefore I should hodl the real estate? Although is this negated because of the already ridiculously inflated australian property market?

Thoughts appreciated, trips decide

I stumbled across these Steve Keen videos which describe the end of the Credit theory of money system.
Too long didn’t watch: The Ratio of private debt to GDP will continue to rise until the debt can no longer be serviced. Then the entire system implodes in a deflationary depression. The government has some choices. In the great depression they devalued the currencies with respect to gold thereby making the debts easier to service. This time the money is exogenous or loaned into existence so I don’t see why a debt jubilee is out of the cards. The banks never earned this money, why should it be paid back. If nothing is done it will be a long painful deflationary depression. I think Steve Keen perfectly describes the problem and the outcome. He is not a gold bug and actually hates the stuff. He demonstrates the model at the 17 minute mark of video 2. The decline of wages share of GDP is rapidly declining now just like in his models

I did the gigantic mistake of wanting to dip a toe into shitcoins last week. Purchased two ETH for a little over $930. Literally the absolute top. Then today, after a 35% loss, i was so desperate i withdrew all what was remaining. The minute after it was pumping back like crazy.

Also got raped by coinbase fees to credit my account and then after to withdraw it all from this kike platform. Only 600 bux left. This one week experiment costed me $300. But i learned a valuable lesson : never again i'll be retarded enough to try to buy those stupid scamcoins.

I want to beat myself for falling for this giant ponzi scam. I was close to break down into tears few hours earlier, now i'm just sad i lost my money to feed some whales and kikebase. I need a hug pmgbros..

Anon. I was into the crypto game in 2017. I put maybe 5k into crypto and my portfolio was worth maybe 33k at peak. I though there was room to maybe double that still. Anyways, fell for the hodl meme and held for several years before i cashed out with about my original principle. Do i wish I sold near the top? Of course, but I learned the valuable lesson of taking profits with real life skin in the game. I am going to hold my physical gold. If the price is right I will sell some or all of my physical silver. Miners definitely NEED to be sold to take profits. It is not time yet, but keep your ear to the ground because there WILL be a time to sell, and MOST people in miners will miss it. They will go through the euphoria and despair with nothing to show besides a life lesson.

I keep my finances in check, I'm not a huge spender and would say I'm in control compared to most people I know.
My net income is about 1200$ a month and I save a few 100$ of that every month (Keep in mind that my rent is 630$ per month).
On top of that I have 50k in bonds that I wont touch and about 7k for general savings/trading activity.

I would recommend the sprott etfs sdgm and sdgj. Miners are VERY volatile. I can't guarantee that we won't see a 30-40% drop or something in the next month or two (but i doubt). But they are no where near the top on a 1-8 year scale. If you're not in the game, but feel iffy buying at the highs, i'd recommend dollar cost averaging over the next month or 2 on a weekly bases. I don't mean to inspire FOMO, but there is a window and you still have time. I'd say this is like buying bitcoin at 2-3k

>> No.22270811

Just some stuff i've picked up following the industry for the last several years. The earnings cycle is important. Essentially in anticipation of the next earnings, interest in the miners starts to pick up in the market. And then it tails off after earnings. We are at the point right now where we are entering the 'high interest' territory before earnings.

Also, due to the ways algo's work and other large group behavior, the metals seem to open high and the take hits at the middle and end of week. I wouldn't put too much stock in this, but the last month has created the repeated phenomena of miners jumping 3-4% monday, tuesday, and then losing that wed, thursday, whatever.

Anyways, I'm saying all of this because as I said;j Miners are volatile, learning to ride and thrive on the volatility is key to your sanity while holding the underlying volatile equity.

so whats up with this comex thing? it seems like one day everyone thought it was going tits up and suddenly september hits and "it was all a meme, people always say this and it never fails" and suddenly 2 or 3 days later "its literaly defaulting right now, muh shadow contracts" i thought the comex failing was another hapooner thing that every board has like pol's "communism is right around the corner" and k's "if u dont buy a gun tomorrow you will never get one and most likely have your kids raped".

the thing with the comex failing is it seems like non schizophrenics outside of fringe communities believe this as well and have real data showing its happening (i think, im a tech guy, not finances so a lot of the info in thw cideos went over my head)

so has the comex ever got this close to failing or does it do this everytime there is an increase in demand for PM's? it seems like the warning of defaults is somewhat normal during times like these but i cant find any evidence that stuff like shadow contracts, increasing approved refiners, etc has ever happened before

it might very well do that but i think its inevitable to have an increase in price that becomes permanent in the near future, this might even be it. one thing that i dont see discussed here often is how critical silver is to the new goals trying to be achieved by new technology. quantum computers, 5g antennas and other high speed tech requires very high conductivity metals that can expell heat effectively. silver is pretty much the best we have. its not widely used now because we dont need it yet, we are actually still in the early days of technology and pretty much any metal has worked in tech because the bottleneck was in the technology itself rather than the metals conductivity.

for example, quantum computers and other high powered systems are starting to bottleneck on their conductive metal and heat management so they have started using silver and gold in circuit boards and heatsyncs. 5g is similiar, even silver for wiring is being researched for these technologies because of its great throughput and little susceptibility to loss and interference. my audio head buddy actually has silver in all of his audio cables, he expects that to be the norm in 5 years because even audio technology is advancing super fast and starting to bottleneck at the type of metals used

right now its mostly just used in fringe communities and researchers but assuming that technology isnt a "fad" that people will just get bored of, its only a matter of time before silvers demand sky rockets

Plat / RE anon here. Have a token amount invested in XRP - less than $1k. I do think crypto is the future but also see it as still evolving and trying to find itself...think the phrase here is:
>the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese...

Don’t think someone’s wrong to make a small, speculative bet on crypto as long as they’ve got their core position well established.

>>22268666
>Is there a serious danger of confiscation?

Evil trips; spoopy. Yeah...there’s always some risk but doubt the risk is anywhere near the risk we saw in the 30’s. Keep what you feel safe at home, store the rest in non-bank vault storage. If you’ve got enough metal you can hedge the political/confiscation risk by store across multiple countries...but don’t get the vibe /biz/ holds enough metal for this to be relevant...myself included.

>>22271145
>so whats up with this comex thing?

1. You’re seeing shadow contracts pop up (contracts that are created and delivered on the same day). This suggest metal is being directly pulled off the market by those who have the financial firepower to do so [family offices, wealthy individuals, etc.] vs “the normal” kikery of using paper to manipulate prices.

2. Not as many deliveries - out of the outstanding deliveries due - being delivered early in the month. Doesn’t make sense on the surface as the longer COMEX has to store the metal, the more it has to pay in fees. If COMEX knows the metal is going to be delivered, why not deliver it early to save on storage...unless of course they don’t have the metal or are trying to source it.

3. COMEX’s added more approved sources for metal (suggesting their existing sources are unable to meet demand) AND you’re seeing entries actually standing for delivery vs settling in cash or rolling the contract forward.

>But I wouldn’t sell much of my bullion. I have that for emergencies and as an insurance policy against chaos. I would maybe trim my stack a bit (750 oz silver, 13 oz gold) but not much.

What’s /biz/‘s wisdom on holding vs. reallocating from PMs into other asset classes?

Maloney argues assets go through cyclical over/under valuations and the way to win is:

>buy undervalued assets [silver, gold, etc.]
>do NOT buy overvalued assets [stonks, RE]
>wait for the pattern to reverse [PMs moon, RE/stonks in the shitter]
>Trade overvalued PMs for undervalued RE/stocks
>repeat

Currently I’ve used/using RE to fiat up and acquire PMs (mostly silver, some plat, small positions in silver miners). When the Au:Ag silver gets under 25 I’ll start trading Ag for Au. Not sure about Pt - more curious to see where it goes but will keep an eye on the Pt to Au ratio. If [when!] RE deflates then I’ll start to trade Au for income producing properties.

Not sure how much I’ll keep in PMs, but don’t see myself maintaining a substantial position of I can trade an [overvalued] PM for [undervalued] RE...but that’s just me.

Thoughts?

Listen nigger I'm only going to break this down for you once. I have deep levels of expertise in futa hentai and silver markets, and I'll explain to you how the latter works and why COMEX may or may not default but either way is good for PM prices.
Here's the one sentence takeaway:

>COMEX only has to default if prices are continually kept artificially low, they'll be fine if they let prices rise.

The basic way this works is that certain large players like JPM got given de-facto loopholes that allowed them to leverage their extraordinarily large stacks into having total control over PM prices through paper derivatives. JPM has a shitload of silver and doesn't have to obey order limits like all the other plebs, so they got to swing their big dick around the market and make prices. This was so extraordinary that when they finally got caught the SEC noted that JPM had literally NEVER lost a precious metals trade in its entire history.
And normally this works fine for them. They take out a bunch of shorts, and any time it looks like the price might go up, they take out even more and smash the price back down. All the while accumulating as much or as little of the actual physical metal as they want.
Until something like March happens. Suddenly silver is $12, but you can't actually buy a bar or a coin anywhere for less than $30. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together and enough money to stand for a contract sees the arbitrage opportunity, and it doesn't matter how much JPM tries to hammer the price down, they're standing for physical delivery anyways because literally all they have to do is buy a bar and sell it to a refiner and it doesn't matter what spot price is they'll make a solid 25% gain for their trouble. This was so bad that JPM got their bullshit called by the entire PM market, and had to sell like 25% of their physical stack (the largest private silver stack in the world) in one month. HSBC lost I think something like $100m in a day. (1/?)

Desk said he thinks JPM has already gotten out of their short position and is sitting long. I was reading someone say that we’re now in a tight trading range for a while as big players accumulate long positions. He also thinks COMEX is pretty much out of physical with shadow contract deliveries that stopped the first week of August. It’s an interesting take.

So what happens after this? Well if you're sitting in JPM/HSBC's shoes you have two paths forward.
The first is you can take your licks and go back to business as usual. However if gold/silver demand increases (which if there is a gap between retail physical prices and "spot price" it will) and the arbitrage opportunity persists, you will get your bullshit called and you WILL have to stand for delivery.
The second is you can stop trying to keep price low. This is actually beneficial for you as well since you are one of, if not the, largest holders of the physical metal on earth. Sure you won't make as much money as you did controlling the entire market, but you'll still come out ahead with a decent profit.
What we have seen since March is that the big banks have been taking the second option. The house account of JPM has an almost non-existent short presence now. Scotiabank is exiting the market entirely. What this has led to is the spot prices of the metals rising, and a shrinking of the retail premium.

>But anon why does any of this matter for COMEX?

When JPM was swinging its dick around all the time determining prices, COMEX was just a price taker. They were never meant to be a physical delivery service. When they get their shit called, especially during a time when it was =hard to source new gold and silver (lockdown), there is a real risk of force majeure and a default.
HOWEVER if the shorts back off and don't get squeezed, then prices are allowed to rise naturally and what happens? Well the demand for physical delivery begins to slow to the point where COMEX can afford to actually deliver.
Either way is good for metals prices. If shorts try and come back, they will get squeezed, and price will pump up in a big short squeeze. If they don't, price will rise slowly and naturally because metals only go up.
Tl;dr COMEX probably won't default since the shorts have backed off, and there's only a risk of default from multiple back to back short squeezes.

Yeah, that's in essence what I was getting at.
As for my take, I'd say do the following (and to anybody else in a similar situation with mortgages)
> Keep setting aside the same amount each week for the mortgage, but only pay the minimum.
> Put the extra 'mortgage finance' you would have put in on top into a gold stack you keep separate from your main stack.
> Allocate your usual 'PM money' into Silver or a Tertiary metal
> Once your 'mortgage stack' is large enough to cover the cost of the rest of the mortgage, pay the entire thing off at once and be done with it

This being for a few reasons:
- Firstmost is that, provided there's a global economic crash (which, I mean, come on, everybody knows it's gonna happen), we'll see debt rates in particular do some crazy shit that nobody can accurately predict. Other Anons have pointed out that the auzzie dollar has stong(er) backing compared to other fiat, but from what I've seen of the Australian economy, it seems (much like Canada) to be deep in much worse relative debt compared to the dollar or euro, as a result of overly open foreign investment policies. I'll say right now that it's a priority to keep your credit score in the green, so obviously keeping the payments up; but I'd be cautious of what the fuck debt is going to do in the coming times, since a full on global crash hasn't had this much debt tied in before - so it really is new ground being paved. This is why I'd also advise against selling off any property; because while it's possible that the bogans will retake their property market from the chinese-investor menace by shitposting/force regardless of the debt, its just as possible that the claws could sink in further and property prices become even more wacky numbers, in a bubble that will never pop (because foreign interests won't let it, let alone the market not being ready for it).
- The reason why I say make a 'mortgage split' in Gold is because, in essence you should be able to benefit ...

>> No.22275842

from the increase in Gold value, while the Gold itself stays relatively non-volatile (with the only expected crashes being on economic recoveries). So while it would be hard for you to lose, you should be able to expect a pretty healthy gain in the coming months, which you can then use to essentially shorten the amount of time your mortgage takes to get rid of, without actually paying any more. Gold on top, generally has comparably low premiums compared to the rest of the PM market (unless the auzzie gold market is a premium nightmare that I'm not aware of) so you shouldn't lose too much from the 'entry investment'. With this method, you can reasonably shave a few months to even a year or so off the mortgage at little financial risk to yourself. A low denomination coin every week/month should be feasible (at least from my experience)
- Then, my reason for investing in Silver/Tert is pretty obviously because of the short come the crash. You're in a position where you've got enough Silver that you can very safely start to build up another stack (Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium, etc - Copper if you want to fill up the safe for memevalue) and diversification is never a bad thing. I'd advise against miners at this stage - reasoning is because, while they're profitable if you got in on them earlier for long (as in a few months back) or were shorting them up until last month; at this stage moving into miners is more for people who are already in the stock market looking to keep their investment in stocks without losing overall value as the wider stock market collapses. Miners (outside of a few juniors which have the most room to grow) have made most of their profit now, and are in for weathering the economic storm internally within the stock market; physical *should* see a greater increase in value compared to miners.

Hope that helps, you criminal colony, abbo fetishising, leddit spacing bastard; if you want any more clarification, go ahead and ask.

Package for the silver came at the same time as other Amazon stuff. Even if it may be overblown, still trying not to get the Rona if I can help it. So I wipe all I coming stuff, especially from Amazon with diluted bleach. I only wipe the silver down with water because silver only needs water for its anti-microbial properties to kick in. But I cross contaminated the surface of the table of with bleach and sat a couple bars in the drops. When I went to wash the silver, I realize what I had done and saw light brown smudges that wouldn’t come off. So lesson learned...don’t open them simultaneously and wash hands and sugar se before going from bleach to opening a silver package.

Anons should really not do this type of investment into bayhorse/BHLL/ any other potential 10 bagger miner company. There's a lot at risk and it won't soar off until 2022 at least. There's a lot of other juniors out there now that will out perform these by a longshot, but honestly I'm thinking about getting out of the market soon anyway. I don't want to be in it while the election goes and + there's going to be a deflationary period soon before the FED hyperinflation kicks in. We're going to see losses for the next month I feel. Maybe a bounce early this week, but it'll be a bull trap. I'll keep browsing the threads bros but I'm out of the paper gang. Physical from here on out until things are more clear.

just recently i took a deep analysis on home insurance and precious metals coverage as I am growing out of the ordinary customers stack.
I can, without any fee increasing, be insured up to 100.000€ when I install a safe with minimum 200kg of weight and 2 heavy duty bolts bolted into concrete, outside of the safe I can only have 10.000€ worth of precious metals, jewelery and alike.
It also greatly reduces the fee if I am willing to have a high deductible (they consider 500€ high) so I gladly took that aswell.

Also, you need more in miners for sure. You are too heavy on physical, IMO. With that much capital, I'd have 50K in miners.
