How realistic is to learn enough computer science and math to code my own crypto trading bot?

not for me. b/c i have one. bots are the ultimate trader assist tool. i have one custom.

probably 3-4 years for all mathmatics and another 1-2 years for coding. 6ish years however, doing it both 24/7 you can probably get it done within 1 year but you have to be very committed.

Wouldn't you just need to set a maximum/minimum buy/sell and an allowance for some number of eth ahead of you? Really doesn't sound too difficult.

It depends on the complexity of the bot. If it's a simple strategy probably something like a week starting from nothing.

Developing your own new/complex algo is a different story if that's what you're asking.

i have been programming and studying computer science for over a decade, and have done so professionaly, and am well-respected by my peers. I am probably top 5% of programmers, so there are many smarter than me. I once tried creating bots for about a year, i had cloud backtesting setup and everything, even my own server farm to contribute compute power, and i couldn't make a bot that is consistently profitable in realtime. Take what you will from this information.

the problem with most bots is that they are trading bots, programmers attempt to automate the process of 'beating the market by making winning trades' when they really should attempt to automate 'exploiting other market participants for fun and profit'. Take what you will from this information.

Do you seriously think you're going to make more money this way than by trading normally?

Guess who is interested in crypto: computer people. Nerds. Chinese geeks with the power to restore virginity on skin contact. The whole market is full of bots and autists. It's hypercompetitive. You'd have an easier time personally making a Formula 1 car and winning a race.
