Rendering is the process of photorealistic images from computer models. When people make animated disney movies they first create the basic models and animations on their computer, and then to make the frames they render them on the GPU. The thing is though that this is an extremely time consuming process and as GPU technology increases so does the quality of rendering, this makes rendering time almost constant at a very slow speed.

Rendering is not the only thing that you can do with GPUs. As an example GPU power is hugely beneficial for training machine learning models compared to a traditional CPU.
