Name a single other thing that depreciates in value faster than these things

Who the fuck is out there actually buying a fucking phone for 1300 Dollars?

>> No.22149929

I used a $100 Moto G for 1 year and now I have brain damage. A phone, unless you have a decent laptop or desktop at home, is basically an extension of your brain.

>> No.22149962

I try to get a decent phone for about five hundred every two years but I think I've paid more than that

>> No.22150464

I've started doing alot of my trading on my phone..actually thinking to spend more on my next one like the galaxy note with pen..need the screen size and speed.

>> No.22150697

It's just not worth it to buy a flagship phone, unless your employer is paying for it. You're left feeling embarrassed 3 years time when a budget phone absolutely blows it out of the water.

Yup, you can't be mobile and do business on a potato phone. I work remotely sometimes so I needed something beefy with a high res screen in case of emergencies

I just see it as a computer
A $200 computer does not have enough CPU/ram/storage for me to browse properly
Can't have a bunch of charts open + streaming video going on a $200 computer, can't have a bunch of charts open + streaming video going on a $200 phone

Similarly, I would not use a laptop that costs less than 4 digits, because I would not use a slow laptop for any reason

I used to get those contract deals where you pay 200 for a flagship with 2 yr contract. Just bought a Galaxy S20 a couple months ago for $800. I used my Galaxy S7 for 4 years straight, I intend to use this for at least 3 years. I use my phone realistically at least 3 hours a day, for something I use that much and will use for a few years, $800 is well worth it IMO

Why do retards buy the best smartphone on the market? If you want one for basic things just buy a cheap one, if you need one with a little power the midrange ones can be really decent. If you're spending 1300 on a phone you're either a mobile gaming retard, or an ethot who uses it for the camera to take gratuitous photos on the go

$1k for a top of the line phone is perfectly reasonable. There are only a few things that I pay for high end, this is one of them. I carry it with me everywhere and use it for multiple hours every day for various shit. Even if lower end phones can get the job done, I'd rather it be quick/easy/comfy/reliable for a couple extra hundred. I get a new one ever 2-3 years.

Does your $500 phone shit out that fast? I work in an industrial setting so my phone is always getting dusty and grimy but they always last me at least 5 years before anything goes wrong. We've definitely reached the point where any new improvement in technology is marginal at best and just serves for marketing. Maybe in the early '10s I could see upgrading that often.

Naaah, there are asset depreciating way badly than smartphones.
I usually keep mine 2 years, so probably this year I will replace my iPhone.
I basically paid my iPhone XR $1.30/day, an affordable "tax", for a secure and high tier smartphone.
And when I sell it I will still make $300/$400 or something (so, $0.8/day).

Not him but my last 4 androids have barely made it 2 years, sometimes less, and they don’t really get dirty or anything. The charging ports ALWAYS wear out first, like <2 years and that’s just plugging it in at night, not like I’m plugging things in and out constantly. The batteries also degrade badly. Last good phone I had was a moto x pure. Nexus 6 was garbage, nexus 6p was garbage, I have a galaxy s8 currently and it’s barely lasted two years, battery life is trash, I have it on power saver 24/7 and I use a wireless charger because the port is almost gone. I’m just trying to make it last till the IPhone 12 and I’m done with the other shit. At least IPhones last

>> No.22153664

iPhones don't last either. What part of planned obsolescence do you not understand?

>> No.22153730

>>22153664
That’s horse shit to an extent, and the only real tangible planned obsolescence on the fat phones are a feature that is hidden and slows your cpu as your battery ages so the battery life doesn’t drop so much. The last fat phone I had was a 4s and it lasted forever. I know people still using or just upgrading from like iPhone 7s.

Most likely just dirty. Use a safety pin to scrape out the port. I have a heavy use S7 still going strong for 4+ years and I've had to clean out the port twice due to build up. Both times I thought for sure the port was done for, both times it charged perfectly after cleaning.

>> No.22154732

never understood phones and why you need a constant upgrade every 2 years, so the camera now takes higher quality photos? So what past 10 megapixels the definition difference isn't even noticeable to the naked eye anyway.

I have a 4g ipad mini which I use as a phone and tablet. Connect a bt headset when you need to make calls, perfect.had it for 4 years
