In my opinion panning for gold as a hobby is similar to metal detecting, you don't do it for the stuff in the ground, it's more about the experience. Unless your are taking it seriously like Pan Man the cost/benefit analysis is always negative, if its about the gold you're better off just buying it.

Correction from what? Price movement is driven by institutions, not normies on Robinhood. Large price movements represent a change in the sentiment about the future of the economy. Do you think anyone that is paid to make these decisions and isn't running a corporate PR campaign actually thinks that there is anything positive in the future? The USA is in a debt trap and is stuck with permanent ZIRP and negative real yields on its bonds while pursuing aggressive inflation. This can't change as long as the USD is still currency. Real estate is in a bubble that never actually popped in 2008. Stocks are in a bubble that will continue to grow until it pops and annihilates almost every pension and retirement account.

Who are they going to look to for leadership? China? Its currently falling apart with bank runs, acts of industrial sabotage, mass flooding, limits on consumer spending, food rationing, forcing orchards to plant rice, and a new national campaign to crack down on 'food and water waste'. The myth of their 'internal middle class economy' was just that; a myth. Turn to the Euros? Sure they've been stock piling gold throughout the Eurozone since the 1970s and would love to get out from under the USD, but they don't have the economic weight to carry the world. There is no sunny future on the horizon. Any price drops in PMs are shorts at this point.

>Holy shit
The point of that quote is that capitalism is an inherently amoral system, not an immoral one. It literally cannot make or help to make value judgements about anything that isn't pure economy. As such, any society that turns to it as a form of secular religion will feel it gradually corrode elements of their culture that are not profit driven. By not realizing that their are things in society that are more important than maximizing property, you allow for the commercialization and exploitation of all people at all times and in all places, which is just as anti-human as communism, but in a different way.

Learn some nuance.

Communists unironically believe "capitalism" is whenever the capitalist class is in charge of society.
So theoretically the most unfree markets in the world can be "capitalist" to them as long as there is some capitalists operating. So all of the bad things that happens in extremely interventionist countries and dictatorships are automatically the fault of "capitalism" and if only we got rid of capitalism and had the workers run everything we would live in a utopia.
It's extremely dishonest and retarded. It's more than that, it's a massive religious cult. It's like Scientology or something, I can't believe these people exist, they talk and act like cult members.

Malthus didn't just give us the term 'Malthusian Collapse', he was the first to line out why there will always be scarcity and thus competition, since the speed of reproduction is geometric while the ability to increase subsistence is arithmetic. His theory laid the ground work for Darwin's survival of the fittest a generation later, and was so good at pointing out the failures of utopian planning that his works were banned in the USSR and denounced by the Catholic Church. And if you're going to shit all over Smith, maybe you could tell me which of his French contemporaries I should get into, since they were the only other people laying down a capitalist theory at the time. Except you aren't aware of them either, because the only thing you know about being free-market are memes and 2 sentence quotes from Rothbard or Hoppe.

The proper order of a civilization is as follows
priest->warrior->skilled merchant->manual labor
economics are important but they are not the top of the pyramid. The sacred always comes first and then on down the line.
"capitalism" for lack of a better term basically eschews the top two portions of the pyramid and elevates economics to supremacy.

Do you honestly think people are shills if they disagree with you and reply to multiple people.
Many people were replying to me at different times so obviously I made multiple posts.

>I noticed the premiums are higher on coins vs bars. Is the premium worth it
You can look at it like this: In the short term, everybody has those premiums on teh coins, so if you decide to sell it (ad in peer-to-peer, not rip-you-off middlemen) you sell it with the premium too. In the long term, as in decades or even generations, it makes little to no difference.
OFC as a principle is always best to minimize premiums, but when a coin carries a certain premium no matter the seller, then that's its actual price, not whatever the spot price bullshit claims it is.

What does PMG think about PM ETCs?

I like the physical feel of PMGs and understand "if you don't hold it you don't own it", but being able to buy so close to spot without additional fees is nice. In my country (), all precious metals besides gold attract 20% VAT. I've still got about 50oz of silver and 1.2oz of gold but I'm put off buying more silver and other physical precious metals like platinum and palladium due to this.

Any advice on how to get cheap precious metals as a Britbong, short of emigrating? I tried buying from Estonia as they don't charge VAT but the only seller seemed suspect so I avoided.

I’m not gonna lie I made fun of you pm fags. I have seen the light. I have 10k cash on hand. Going to put that with my pms in a secure location I have access too. After hearing stories or people having issues accessing their safe deposit boxes or having to make an appointment at the bank days or a week in advance for a large withdraw, I don’t put it past another “event” to happen and be at the mercy of the banks.

Crypto, pms, and stacks of cash make me comfy.

You'll pay more premium for rounds (assuming they're from a decent mint) as opposed to an equivalent Xoz bar.

The bar in my mind is better since you will be tempted to preserve for for longer, as opposed to single oz coins that are generally easier to liquidate.

If you are going bars, get good ones like J&M or Engelhard and not some shit smelted in some fags basement.

Ok so I was watching a video on a party thrown for king edwards birthday, he did not attend but whatever. So the fee per head for this party was 125 pounds.
and if I read this place correctly an oz of gold in 1910 was ~4.25 pounds
https://www.chards.co.uk/gold-price/gold-price-history
so if we do some very bad napkin math
125/4.25 = 29.41
So that birthday party of king edwards costs the guests ~29 oz of gold. lets call each sovereign 1/4 oz of gold
so each guest paid around 116 gold sovereigns to attend. or in the inflated money of today ~56,000 US dollars
is that right? Holy fuck what a party

They did also mine so much fucking silver it crashed their economy for centuries, so not the best finacial people.

A 2kg dish with handles of even a simpler design (which would be smaller than the large tray shown) is around $3,000-4,000 in the secondary market here and it would actually sell. Coin bullion is cheaper than that. And bar bullion cheaper again. Anything really elaborate and old goes for huge premiums. The secondary market here is more active at these higher prices than at lower prices. When prices are low no one wants to sell. Cheap scrap silver is becoming a bit of a myth.

They are special orders from the Perth Mint direct. You need to make contact with them and per-place an order and pay upfront. They are limited in quantity and they always fully sell out. They are supper rare to find. Dealers don't typically advertise them as those dealers will normally offer any buybacks of these to preferred clients first. You can currently buy these on the secondary market in Europe at a high premium.
