The paradigm of covid reaction shifted in a lot of countries at some point from 'save the health service from being overwhelmed' to 'save literally every life, including the old who would otherwise be dying of natural causes above the average life expectancy'
Masks have benefits but are also a helpful tool of subservience to keep those not at risk worried so that nobody questions this
One day the deaths and damage to life expectancy and prosperity resulting from government reaction will be calculated and most of the ardent supporters will say they were against it after all. Probably will be another Iraq in terms of public image

countries with the highest rates of smoking (like japan) have next to no deaths. The only consistent piece of data is aged care deaths, and countries that protected the elderly performed the best.
The virus is literally not dangerous to people under 65 and they should have been allowed to catch the virus and build herd immunity while the elderly were protected.

We had this same argument in the early days of the outbreak on /pol/ as to how and whether China was fucking with their numbers (they were, of course). Basically in western practice the doctor puts everything that might have contributed to the death on the certificate. In China they only list the direct cause of death. So you got corona patients in China dieing of heart failure (because of heart inflammation from corona) being logged as "heart attacks" with no mention of rona. America has the opposite thing, where every positive test for corona will end up on a death certificate. Neither way is perfect, the American style overestimates (as you pointed out, corona suicide memes) and the Chinese style produces wild underestimates (that and they just fucking lied).

The problem with the America model is it overshoots the danger of the virus and creates a paradigm where politicians and people are in permanent crisis mode and can't come up with sensible ways of living with the virus.
Sweden had the right approach: the deaths were front loaded but the population built up immunity and they can now return to normal while dealing with the virus. Countries like Australia that tried to eliminate the virus have simply delayed the inevitable.

It was lower than the countries which imposed the strictest lockdowns (Italy, UK, Spain), had a smaller economic contraction, and most important can actually return to normal now that the population has herd immunity. Notice how Spain, Germany, and France are all seeing a rise in case numbers again?
Whats the solution? Perpetual lockdowns and never allowing your economy to recover? Sweden can actually move forward now while the rest of Europe is stuck in a perpetual state of crisis mode.

Shorts are blind in GME. The short float is brutal here, the biggest by percentage on NYSE. You think the physical era is over? Not yet, at least not for consoles. 50% of console games are still sold by physical format. GameStop will probably make over $300 million net profit in 2020, and the P/E in the retail sector is 20x, so it should be at $6 billion market cap, which is like $100. I am way more conservative, so lets give them $30-45 easily by pure P/E valuation alone. Tell me another company that will make this much return in a year and I'll invest in them too!

Which could very well be announced with Ryan Cohen buying a stake in the company. Something could be going on deep GameStop. i legit think TSM would be worth like $150 right now if people didn't have geopolitics to worry about.
good think whatever China tries to steal will be useless since they're cucked out of US/Europe semiconductor tools, just too bad that China military stunts scare everyone else away from TSM even if realistically China would not try to invade TSM when it would start a war with US (at least i would hope they're not that retarded)
when nukes are falling, i don't think i'll give a shit when TSM goes down -50% anyways

50% of my (student gambler) portfolio is in TSM right now, i'm convinced samsung will drop out the race like Intel with how 2020's turned out so far for samsung, it just fucking hurts seeing TSM keep crabbing when my QQQ exposure might outperform it soon even though I bought QQQ blindly without any DD beyond """"stonks only go up"""). I think I have around $400 profit from just shuffling QQQ and TQQQ around with much less capital than my TSM hold (~$500 profit since i dumped a corona NEETbux cheque back in June).

Less volatility than FNGU, less affected by TSLA swings.

>100% FNGU
If TSLA does well then FNGU does really well. FNGU also holds some gay shit like Baidu which is a turd and Twitter which is also a turd but it very concentrated in good companies as well.

TQQQ = less OOOOs but also less AAAAAs
FNGU = more OOOOs and more AAAAAs

I would go 50/50 to start and then put more cash in the one that seems to be doing better. TQQQ is definitely safer IMO

Stock price == expected growth.
Dividend == company earnings.
MO is not growing, so investors relocate capital to where it would grow, so the stock price falls. The company is still earning, and still pays dividend.
Actually with lower stock price, you get a better percent return, since dividends are paid per share, not per dollar invested.

depending on how good your timing was, that was the right move because you can put some of your profits back into TSM if you still believe TSM is worth more than $80.

I still don't understand how it continues crabbing at $80 after the symposium news cementing their future for at least the next 3 years. I feel much safer with my money in TSM than in QQQ, but eh definitely have both exposures, don't get rid of your AAPL (or QQQ) exposure.

exactly. im in for 300 shares, which is only around like $2k. even if i lost all of that, who gives a fuck. even if this somehow fell through it would likely just go half in price anyways not to 0 instantly, so i lose $1k who gives a shit? i already made over $10k off of AAPL/TSLA these past couple of weeks.

put in an amount you don't mind losing, high risk high reward. $2k doesn't sound like a lot until you consider the prospect of it potentially going 3x or maybe even 10x. risking $1k downside to making $4k upside is pretty good odds.
