brainlet here. you can transfer ETH over to FTM. FTM uses EVM which means easy to port dapps from ETH over to FTM. why we dont just clone uniswap and get instant transactions and low fees? am i missing something? maybe combine this with a sushi like liquidity incentive so we also get liquidity. fTokens needs to be a thing though dont know if the bridge allows tokens to be transferred.

From what I understand, you'd need contracts both on ETH and FTM Opera as well as a trusted bridge or "oracle" to facilitate the swaps.
This is part of what they're doing with Fantom Finance - you can send your ETH or ETH tokens to an address and they'll be bridged over and wrapped on Opera. They're adding non-ETH coins like ONT to that as well down the line.
The synths will not be backed by anything except the promise of LINK and BAND oracles giving the correct price for them at all times.

ok - but you have to deposit 300% FTM (or how much coll they will go for) for the token you want to buy (synth) which is not that efficient. so i would rather pay 50USD for a swap on ETH instead of buying the synth on FTM. sure a synth has the side effect that im not losing my exposure to FTM but if im not a holder of FTM i dont care about this

Yeah that's a good point, this is why it's important for them to onboard other coins and tokens as collateral pretty quickly.
Regardless of what asset people want to collateralise, it should be a net positive for FTM demand.
