My old boss just passed away so a lot of work and responsibilities get put on to me. His son who runs the place now can’t even read or write properly. COVID has totally messed up the supply chain in my industry. There are only a handful of other companies that do what we do in our state (one of the biggest market states for such product) I have no idea if we will make it if we go into a big depression.

I was a classroom teacher in a high school for a year before getting out on account of they wanted me to somehow keep control of a bunch of druggies and gang members. It's easy to fake experience on your resume but they will ask for a verified copy of your degree. I think sometimes they accept people who have a bachelor's degree in things besides English.

Help desk here for a medium sized grocer. Retail IT support is suffering and "POS systems" are well named. I'm actually a CCNA and used to work lvl 2 in telecom but the 24/7 rotating shifts were slowly killing me due to sleep deprivation. Found this easy as fuck boring ass job and they are paying me better than the telecom gig. They want to move me into their nascent NOC that they are putting together. Lots of resistance from boomer IT managers that can't understand the importance of a managed network for every store. It's baffling that in 2020 these morons think having a stack of unmanaged switches is good enough.

I need to get away from these people.

Can vouch for this. Went for a software engineering job in government. They're so incompetent that they don't have the thing I was hired to do close to ready, so every three months, I have to file a report explaining why I can't do what they hired me to do.
They still ranked me as an exceptional worker and gave me an above-average wage increase.
In the meantime, I spend my time fucking around with somewhat-related machine learning projects to boost my resume.

Now my plan is just to get a relatively cushy job that pays 2k euros net while working on online side income, living at home and stashing about half my cash in gold/crypto. As almost anyone will tell you, a PhD is usually a waste of time and if you're going to get a regular job afterwards you're usually better off with the equivalent years in work experience.

That said, I really like research, and if you want to do research as a career (certainly in academia and in many industry positions) you need a PhD. The pay and terms are usually shit but it's not quite as soul-crushing as most things, provided you're the right type of person. And given that I'm in a fairly good position financially I don't feel the need to do something I hate just to get an extra grand or two which the taxman will mostly eat up anyways.

i did a masters in accounting. had to take a seminar elective with 15 foreign exchange chinks and 1 other american. professor took us americans aside on the first day, after class was dismissed, and told us she was forcing us into the online version of the class (needed special permission to take it) since the chinks would "make us do all of the work" and "refuse to do the presentations."

i was blown away at how redpilled a 50 year woman professor could be.

I work in commercial HVAC, no college degree $30 an hour, 27 years old. I don't recommend going back to college because it will just put you further into the hole, the best thing you can do for yourself is try to beat the devaluation of the dollar and protect your financial assets. You can do suicide stacks on shilled biz coins or calls/puts on robinhood, you can put your savings in the bank and get screwed over by inflation, ultimately it’s up to you, but I’ll throw you my 2 cents on my due diligence, and it’s up to you to read the white papers and understand what I’m saying or continue with your life after reading this post. One of my hedged positions is the Jarvis Network, they're the only protocol implementing UMA which has a superior protocol to synthetix network (which has some fundamental scaling problems involving liquidity being pulled from its pool), though UMA lacks a frontend. in Q3 Jarvis is rolling out their test market, and if they succeed and don’t have any funky bugs or hacks then they'll be directly competing with Synthetix network in the field of synthetic asset ownership with a superior protocol. There is not a single protocol in DeFi in the top 100 by market cap that is implementing this shit because you have to build the platform around UMA for it to work, and it takes a lot of time & effort, but these guys have been doing it since february before UMA was even listed. Now that the market's shown it likes UMA (given the traction its had these last few weeks), there will be demand for a protocol that can actually implement it. I've allocated about 15% of my portfolio on this because it is risky, there is risk involved with a protocol that has yet to roll out its product, as well as the token of Jarvis will experience dilution in a couple months and again in like 2 years when a bunch of tokens sold earlier for liquidity to fund the development of the project becomes unlocked, but it won't matter if they succeed.

also read up on high yield services & early resolution protocols, tokenized liquidity protocols & token exchange networks, and DeFi Oracle protocols & high network saturation solutions. Read white papers in your spare time, look at who's behind the protocols on linkedin, whether they're leading their sector or just copying code from another protocol, etc etc. If you need somewhere to start then do research into these.
Aave, UMA, Band/Loopring/Omg, Ren, Kleros. and if you're too lazy and can't be bothered to read a lot, then just read about Aave and the field it covers (collateralized token loans), since they're the most well established in DeFi atm.

I'm hoping I can make enough money that I can buy a house outright. I also hope that I can do that before I graduate, but that's probably too optimistic

Would you mind answering that other anon’s question with a little more detail? After you self taught how did you start getting freelance jobs? I’ve heard this is very hard. Thanks brother

It's not for everybody, but I just can't stand the corporate world, and I make way more like this anyway.
Feels good to me that I'm kind of ''outside of the system'', even if I'm basically playing/reviewing hands/working with solvers/watching coaching videos all day long I'm way happier like this. I puke at the sole thought of waking up early to go to the office.
The only thing that I could do as an employee without suiciding is working onboard of ships/boat, but I want to become a family guy, have tons of kids and teach them to hate jews

Can you help a bro out who wants to break into sales? I'm a CS junior and my heart isn't in CS anymore. It's not fun at all and I don't enjoy the prospect of working for pozzed companies.

How can I just drop out and start working in tech sales? Right now I think I'm going to start applying for some part-time sales gigs and see what happens.
