Xdai is still young, with a growing network, security problems get smaller and smaller.

If you want to call it a single point of failure,
bitcoin has a single point of failure, too, named chinese miners.

PoS in general has a single point of failure, you just need enough money.

The requirements can change in future.

If you consider that mkr and gnosis etc are validators, they have much more to lose in their side, by acting badly on xdai than just running the node and not losing trust in their own assets. They are not just backing by 650k dollars in stake value but with they own reputation, wich exceeds value of xdai chain by far.
