Help a newbie out /biz/, how the FUCK do I get into crypto, I mean, coinbase wants my ID and obviously this concept irks me out, all I'm looking for is to scrap the bottom of my wallet and throw some dollaroos at crypto but I am a bit lost about the whole process. Any useful guides/links etc? Do I get restricted to 1 website or service provider if I exchange from them?

thank you

Times are a little rough ATM OP, but if you want a tip, get registered with an exchange (you have a few weeks), and when the bubble pops, and all crypto drops, then that's when you buy. Altcoins, and BTC.

The only place you can buy BTC without ID islocalbitcoins, or a BTC ATM. Both charge high fees: ~10%.

My suggestion, join Kraken, register with them, give them your ID, passport, bank statement, all that nasty shit and get verified. Have money, and be ready to buy after the prices bottom out.

Use Bittrex, or Poloniex for altcoins. Use an exchange like Kraken for the bigger coins.

Any specific reason for Bittrex for altcoins? I don't mind doing the ID bullshit if it's really needed. How come people have these big codes where they send eachother currency, isnt that tied to whatever exchange they registered with? or is it just a clientside wallet?
Thanks in advance, very helpful btw.

Doesnt look that bad Ive been following it 24/7 for two days and browsing this place, why would it be "over" unless you bought at a peak? Doesn't seem like crypto is going anywhere anytime soon.

Looks like the major coins are starting to dip, people are freaking out and selling without waiting
We picked a very weird time to start

... Seriously? You need to wait for the long haul. This day to day stuff will worry you to death. Once normies catch on in a few years you'll be rolling in dough.

If you don't wanna give your ID, you go to localbitcoins or something similar where you buy em from local people.
>coinbase
Avoid this exchange like the plague. Try gemini. Prepare to wait at least a week to get your ID verified though.
>Do I get restricted to 1 website or service provider if I exchange from them?
no
>how the FUCK do I get into crypto
Don't day trade crypto. Buy and hold long term. The whole point is that this shit is supposed to replace fiat or be used for real shit. When that starts happening more, the values will explode. If you wanna cash out short-term, don't invest more than you're willing to lose, and diversify to at least 4 coins - that's how you absorb losses. Also if you're American, prepare to be anally probed by the IRS - keep track of all your transactions.
