that's not how it usually works

wholesale coins are sold at private auctions called bourses. You pay several thousand dollars a year to attend a certain bourse where you bid on coins and lots at wholesale prices against other coin dealers.

the other source is private collections where the dude that inherited his grandpa's coin collection brings it in and sells it for pennies on the dollar because he doesn't care about coins and just wants weed. Either way there aren't really coin wholesalers. If there were they'd be selling at retail prices because wholesalers don't sell to the public at wholesale prices.

more likely if they added the 3% card processing fees to their prices they'd either lose money or be more expensive than other dealers.

most consoomers don't realize cards cost 3% of the purchase price to use. So everything is marked up 3% higher than it has to be to cover that.

This is the TLDR for 'I See Satan Fall Like Lightening' for that guy from the last thread. Basically sacrificial rites always start as killing humans and tend to tone themselves down to animals, or the destruction of effigies for pure religious rites. However the believe in the power of sacrificial victims never really goes away. And the societal tendency to sacrifice people for the 'good of all' grows out of that, and its the oldest lie we tell.

it's a sword with a lot of edges

if the business owner deposits the cash the IRS can track it, so they'd have to have some secure vault for storing large amounts of cash. Which coin stores generally do. But that puts you at higher risk for robbery.

also it's hard to get credit if your cash isn't on the books, and all businesses need credit sometimes. Likewise the IRS doesn't consider you a business if you don't turn a profit most years so they'd need to declare enough cash to remain in business. The biggest risk is the IRS can find out what car you drive, how much you paid for your house, etc. So they can spot large wads of cash being hidden. Also hiding cash makes your business difficult or impossible to sell, and selling the business is one of the main goals of business in the first place.

tax evasion certainly happens, but not as often as people think. There's more downsides than up. It's the strategy used by people that can't plan long-term.

That's innacurate. Unless there's a major shift I can buy 23 boxes of oatmeal creme pies with an oz of silver, and if the price quintupled overnight I could still buy 115 or so boxes. The dollar would have to crash hard to make up for that.

But to elaborate people thing that gold and silver will only preserve wealth, but can’t grow it. That’s not actually true. Firstly, if prices are allowed to rise above their artificially suppressed values, there’s immediate real appreciation there. Then if gold and silver are remonetized, there will need to be a significant revaluation to account for the world’s economic output. There’s real appreciation there as well.

should I start buying miners or continue stacking? I'm from Europe, so premiums and taxes on the physical are a bitch, especially on silver, they were half of the price a few months ago. I started stacking really late (end of April) and I planned on getting to at least 3oz of gold and 200oz of silver before thinking about anything else, but I'm afraid I'm gonna miss out on the miner moon.

It's just schizo thought is all. Somebody getting busted for something is good evidence that it's not widespread. If it were the perpetrators would be getting busted too.

Stacking metal is a schizo game to begin with and stacking silver is the most schizo of the schizo games. But that doesn't make the rationalizations correct. It just means you won't talk to anyone that disagrees with your scchizo thought. Ultimately there's no harm in buying silver, you'll probably make some money doing it. Especially right now. But you don't need to be insane or some cult member to do that.

this is what schizos don't take into consideration. You can't even get away with small company or government crimes because too many people are involved. Thinking large ones are happening is absurd. Maybe in China where whistleblowers get killed, but not freakin likely in the west.

It looks like their equity got boosted primarily by their propety, plant and equipment, which I can only assume came thorough selling shares as they have relatively low debt (which is good of course). The concern really really is can they get profitable??? What are their production projections? Did they have any big news the last year or two?

At the end of the day if there are some good points then I guess tossing a few grand is not the worst thing one can do so long as they are okay in losing that money.

Aurcana's Revenue-Virginius mine is not currently operating, but the plan is to be in production by 2021. The mine's existing infrastructure and underground workings have been operating on and off for the past decade with different operators, its been on standby waiting for higher silver prices to restart. The area surrounding this mine also has about 2 dozen abandoned mines that were worked in the last century and never really reexplored with modern tech too so they have a lot of exploration work to do which will likely extend the mines working life a lot. The company is currently drilling on the Virginius vein system, which extends into some new ground they just aquired. They still have a lot to work on yet but they are chugging along. Everything can be found here. http://www.aurcana.com/operations/overview/

I really like this property they are working on, having everything already build and maintained for years really helps cut down on getting things going for a junior.

I do. Silver oxidizes very quickly, you need a specialty set up to not lose a lot of silver in the foundry as slag. You lose a lot as vapor too. It could be done on a tiny scale for fun but doing anything bigger than silver rounds would be excessively wasteful. Copper or bronzes on the other hand would be good candidates. Aluminum bronze in one of it's myriad forms would also work and look close-ish to gold.

They're getting desperate

Look at this worthless FUD article, that is currently the headlining news for the market on investopedia
https://www.investopedia.com/markets-news-4427704

Literally not one part of the article covers underlying economic conditions lmao

>setting off a vertical impulse that stalled at descending triangle resistance and the .386 Fibonacci selloff retracement level
>The 2020 uptrend has now reached resistance at a three-year descending triangle top that broke to the downside in 2013, setting off a multi-year decline that ended an 11-year low in March 2020. Silver has posted three strong rally waves since that time, reaching the underside of the broken triangle at the start of August. It's now consolidating in a symmetrical triangle while daily and weekly relative strength readings cross into sell cycles, raising the odds for a downdraft with an initial target at the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) near $21 on the fund and $23 on the contract.

Lmao imagine paying for this crap article to be the headline story

The other problem Aurcana will run into is the same one Freeport hit a few years back. Freeport bought up a mountain of molybdenum a few miles outside the town of Crested Butte. A mulit-billion dollar property, and mining was stopped by the town and environmental groups. A few hundred people stopped one of the larger mining companies from even exploring on property they bought fair and square.

Ouray is no different. All our old mining towns are stocked with NIMBY types that hate mining. There's enough silver in Colorado left to supply the world markets for the next century at least but nobody is going to let miners mine it.

why does anyone care about weed tests if its legal? in canada they didnt give a fuck about weed even before it was legal, now that it is, you can test positive all you want so long as you are not high on the job. Outside of a few things like pilot or some positions with teh federal government its a non issue.

why is is different down there? besides, people didnt smoke before probably still dont.

But as you say, lots of miners looking for work, they have mines looking for miners, seems like not too insurmountable of a task, and aurcana has stated their plans to ramp up late q4 early q1 are still a go from what I can see.

Like I said I work as a miner in CO and I've never heard of it. Every town has something like this. Most of them stay in mothballs for decades. The ore is good but the costs are too high. Aside from the cost of mining you've got the cost of reclamation which often runs tens or hundreds of times more. Ask Freeport I guess. They have a ton of experience at it and still regularly lose court cases here.

>you can test positive all you want so long as you are not high on the job.
Because the majority of potheads smoke on the job too like there's fucking nicotine in it.

they care for insurance and government oversight reasons

the problem with weed is it shows up for weeks after you ingest it, so it's impossible to prove when the person consumed. Making insurance and federal compliance a major pain in the ass.

yep
we had one of those here in Leadville until the 1990's. I think they had a couple old jumbos but other than that it was antique stuff. MSHA and the EPA eventually ate them up. That and reclamation costs. ASARCO was the operator, it was part of what drove them to bankruptcy.

good to see a fellow miner here again, yea we have the same issues here with 90% of the projects that pop up here in BC. Either enviro gets it killed off or its too hard to work.

Because its never the guy who tokes up on Friday evening to wind down the week that's the issue, and you and I both know it. Its the stoner jackasses who'd be day drinking constantly if their shitty drop out friends were into beer instead of weed. You can't be 'a little' drunk or high or other wise fucked up on a mine site. You will either die (which is a waste of resources) or worse, kill or injure a productive employee.

Colorado needs a sustained increase in silver prices or a sustained decline in labor costs. We might get both, but then when the economy takes a shit we also lose industrial demand.

at least above company has things on the table for opening / production. so many others are totally up in the air on when or if they will ever even complete exploration work. I am hoping more young guys come into the industry, I am the youngest dude on almost all the crews.

It's tough to get into for a lot of guys. Most of the younger people I work with transferred from other heavy industry. But they have to be good, miners here are the best of the crop. Fuck-ups don't last, you know how that goes.
