No they are better than stocks. Hardly anyone that owns Tesla stocks actually has any say with what goes on at the company, despite it being "ownership". The stock is a requirement for the business to make substantial revenue. This ERC20 token actually is a requirement for the business model to function.

I know it sounds stupid but honestly I think 20+ years from now, more people will be invested in utility tokens (of some form) as opposed to stocks. Especially if smart contracts become commonplace and cut out the majority of middle-man companies that stand between consumers and data. The ownership of a company simply wouldn't carry as much value as the product itself.
