Probably an accidental thing. You build up a value system both intrinsic and extrinsic. Smart people are told they're smart and they build on that, and the system sees them as smart and it rewards them in myriad forms. Feedback loop it, and suddenly they're caught up in building it like it's the only thing with import, and then they develop their identity around it. Yeah I know I just want to do this fast. Trying to help family (parents and siblings, I don't have a wife or kids) escape from being poor and wagecuckery. It's tiresome seeing my sibling fail and seeing him depressed when he's trying hard. As for me I cant even get a job. Rejection after rejection after rejection. All i got left is the lowest person in an office (usually a female dominated job so humilating), grocery stores, warehouses, and fast food. I have few avenues left to making money at this point. Read Taleb, any book will do, I recommend Antifragile. Read Mandelbrot's "The (Mis)behavior of Markets". "What I Learned Losing a Million Dollars". Those three deal with critical understanding of the markets and their underlying flaws from the standpoint of risk modeling and thus pricing as well as psychological quirks that arise in the market.

Well in theory all options are priced perfectly and you can never have an edge buying or selling any specific one and you could throw darts at a board and break exactly even after a thousand rounds. That's the theory.
In reality I have a bit over a thousand shares of SOXL. Every month I sell 3 covered calls a bit out of the money. If the price moves high enough that my covered calls are ITM, I buy them back and sell 5 covered calls a bit further OTM. If those 5 get breached, I buy them back and sell 10 even further out. The 10 have never gotten assigned and I regularly make a few grand a month gravy doing this and I have no intention of letting my SOXL go until we enter another sustained confirmed market downturn. Also when the month starts to wind down if I'm still only in the 3 or the 5 phase of my covered call system I'll usually go ahead and sell the rest on the assumption that I won't need them set aside to rescue the others.
So there's the theory and the reality of how I do it.

It would be far better than to have the current system where marginal tax rates become so high it's extremely discouraging to work instead of living off benefits
Negative income tax would also be fine with me as a replacement of the current system where you have a million things you can get money for but only if you comply with a lot of conditions and whenever you deviate slightly from them you lose the benefits and face a ridiculous high marginal tax rate because you started working again.
Here the difference in after tax income between someone earning 15k a year and 50k a year before taxes is only about 10k after all taxes and subsidies have been done
