You have to make the money eventually.
You cant keep inflating stock price exponentially and way beyond income increases year-year.
To even THINK their stock peice is correct you have to assume HUGE growth in the car/battery markets and also assumr Tesla will basically be the only name in the business AND you are will to pay the stock price over a decade in advance. How do we know when it's a good time to get a loan and stick it into the market and rocks?

Probably an accidental thing. You build up a value system both intrinsic and extrinsic. Smart people are told they're smart and they build on that, and the system sees them as smart and it rewards them in myriad forms. Feedback loop it, and suddenly they're caught up in building it like it's the only thing with import, and then they develop their identity around it. Same with athleticism or any other quality that has a transparent manifestation, of course.

The only really important thing is people, honestly. Money, intellect, superficial social hierarchies, spirituality are all trumped by having even one person to truly share with, and without it, it may as well be nothing at all. It's easy to get spun around, especially these days with so much information being poured relentlessly into everyone's heads. Curse of optionality and so on.

They only keep reporting positive numbers, Tesla cars are on a long waitlist as they can't meet demand at all. They are about to finish a factory in China and by next year the one in Texas will be done.

When you think of EV you think Tesla, people that get inside one love it and most negative press is just fabricated by big auto to slow down the decay of ICE cars. Their Battery Technology is 5 years ahead of the competition, and if they showcase a single autonomous car driving from the West Coast to the East Coast by the end of this year, yes, you can safely assume they will dominate the market hardcore.

Is not that Tesla did not anticipate people to smart up, they knew people were gonna start to buy EV Cars by around 2023 in masses, but shit hit the fan too early so now they are rushing. What I'm saying is that mega caps are definitely out. You could probably only catch a large cap that would move that much with insider information. That leaves you speculative unknown companies that you would be just gambling on.

You're more likely to lose money than to make it by trying to double your money in such a short period of time. You should lower your expectations and try to protect what you have, that is real stability.

I can't tell you how to think, or even relate to your position, but to me it seems like a good opportunity to do everything you wanted. I know it's super cliche, but having your mortality shoved in your face like that could be taken as a gift. There are a lot of situations in my life where I think "what is there to lose?" but I've, with any luck got many years of unfulfilling bullshit to deal with while I continuously reflect on that very same question, "what do I have to lose?" to find my self, on a stable path, to some hopeful end.

Perhaps, you, on the other hand knowing that the end is on the order of high probability, know deep down that all you have to lose is that precious limited time, in the moment, where every second is made to count, and perhaps in truly living, fulfillingly in those brief moments you might find in them an eternity.

Yeah I know I just want to do this fast. Trying to help family (parents and siblings, I don't have a wife or kids) escape from being poor and wagecuckery. It's tiresome seeing my sibling fail and seeing him depressed when he's trying hard. As for me I cant even get a job. Rejection after rejection after rejection. All i got left is the lowest person in an office (usually a female dominated job so humilating), grocery stores, warehouses, and fast food. Most will likely reject me too or just not even contact me just like when I was new to the workforce a few years ago and have gained experience since that doesnt seem to get me a better job. I have few avenues left to making money at this point. I was a shut in for a long time so being poor wont hurt me as much as seeing his depressed face from he himself failing and being trapped as a wagecuck. If I can win I can at least pull him out of the pit of despair. I can stomach the failure better now than I could before, I've pretty much been a failure to many at this point, I want to help my family at least

Compounded returns is such that even steady gains multiply to huge gains if you are starting that young. You just have to not burn the money on stupid risks. Index investing is always an option but I'd still put some personal stock picks in there of companies that look interesting and speak to your expertise, education, and passions. But no more than a handful so you can keep track of them as time goes on, and ideally "unrelated" in different sectors.
That both makes the market interesting beyond passive index investing (which does better than most amateur traders) and gives you room to add or grow positions selectively. Generally avoid penny stocks and especially avoid biotech pennystocks.

“In general, people only ask for advice that they may not follow it; or, if they should follow it, that they may have somebody to blame for having given it.”

― Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers

You have to live for yourself.

Read Taleb, any book will do, I recommend Antifragile. Read Mandelbrot's "The (Mis)behavior of Markets". "What I Learned Losing a Million Dollars". Those three deal with critical understanding of the markets and their underlying flaws from the standpoint of risk modeling and thus pricing as well as psychological quirks that arise in the market.

>> No.21883465

>How so if the strategy is to buy and hold?
You can buy and hold a company that loses a ton of value. Once you get out of the solid stocks with a great future, a ton of them don't go up long term and will instead just bleed for years. This is the major risk when you buy something more speculative in hopes of a big gain. You're better off waiting for an opportunity on something more stable unless you know something that the rest of the market does not.

Fren, you're not obligated to somehow become rich in a short period of time and lift your family from their own troubles. You have to take care of yourself first and your plan is just not realistic. The best thing you can show your brother is how to let their investments compound so he can at least retire early, or work less, or take years off. Get a job, even if it's stocking shelves overnight at a grocery store, you can keep looking for something better. Save your money and invest it. Once you're financially stable you can set aside more money to gamble with.

You have some good points. However this is something i decided upon myself likely before i even got interested in stocks. It's unlikely I'll ever have a wife or children so being financially rich myself isnt all that important. At least giving my family some rest from these struggles would cheer them up, not to mention the freedom from the shackles of the workplace I so desperately seek to escape. Ironic as I cant even get a job anymore, it's probably gonna be humiliating though if my parents find out I got some crummy warehouse or grocery store job. All those years of college and working only to end up in that after all the effort I put in. It hurts big time. Heh, treated poorly by many my whole life and here I am now an unemployed dude. It was irrelvant if I was kind, quiet, nice, distant, friendly, rude, mean, happy, sad, angry, frustrated almost always would I be treated the same by people who didn't even know me. You can still find work, humiliation be damned, it's more important to have income to add to your investments. The last position you want to be in is where you can't find work because you've been out of it too long and your 80k is gone from a play gone wrong. You need the right stock at the right time, not whatever garbage can find right now. You want to protect capital for the next 10x that comes around.

Compared to any other major company, they absolutely run wild. It's a company structured by engineers that doesn't give a shit about business custom, only hard work, efficiency and pace of innovation. If you have an idea and your boss doesn't like it, you can just go above them to their boss and talk to them instead. You can even email Elon Musk if you want to. People are willing to work Tesla even if it pays less or they work more hours because they actually get a opportunity to implement their ideas and change the world. If it's too hard for them, they can always go work for GM and have a lifetime contribution of a few lifeless patents.

Their structure filters all the people who just want a cushy well paying job where they don't have to work that hard. This is how they get their CapEx so low, they're not wasting money on anyone or anything that won't improve their business. They have tons of money, they could easily have a huge R&D budget if they want to but it's just not needed.

Well in theory all options are priced perfectly and you can never have an edge buying or selling any specific one and you could throw darts at a board and break exactly even after a thousand rounds. That's the theory.
In reality I have a bit over a thousand shares of SOXL. Every month I sell 3 covered calls a bit out of the money. If the price moves high enough that my covered calls are ITM, I buy them back and sell 5 covered calls a bit further OTM. If those 5 get breached, I buy them back and sell 10 even further out. The 10 have never gotten assigned and I regularly make a few grand a month gravy doing this and I have no intention of letting my SOXL go until we enter another sustained confirmed market downturn. Also when the month starts to wind down if I'm still only in the 3 or the 5 phase of my covered call system I'll usually go ahead and sell the rest on the assumption that I won't need them set aside to rescue the others.
So there's the theory and the reality of how I do it.

Nice digits. I don't know what to tell you, anon. I posted a screen of my current 3 covered calls expiring in September. Maybe I'm just lucky. FWIW I got the idea verbatim from the book "Options as a Strategic Investment" which is considered one of the all time best options books. Maybe you should check it out

How sad. Imagine empathizing with someone who raped an 11 year old girl. You sir, sicken me. What if it was your daughter? I hope for your sake that you don't have empathy for anyone you meet and that was just a meaningless platitude that you didn't really think through.

Pinterest is up about 40% since April 2019.

this, i would be disgusted but i know locking them up wouldn't teach them not to rape again it would just delay another potential rape. Rehabilitation is what i mean by i have empathy. I feel horrible for them that they have something that cause them to do something so sickening as raping my child. But i believe they should be rehabilitated and i have empathy for the fact they can do better.

The times researchers have claimed "success" is predicated on the participants not quitting their jobs and not just laying around and buying drugs with the money. Problem is the people getting the free money know the trial period for the program is going to end so of course they don't quit their jobs and make drastic lifestyle changes from the free money. There won't be any free money pretty soon. But the sponsors of the programs claim this means it's a success and this behavior will be sustained if UBI is permanent. Yeah that's bullshit

It would be far better than to have the current system where marginal tax rates become so high it's extremely discouraging to work instead of living off benefits
Negative income tax would also be fine with me as a replacement of the current system where you have a million things you can get money for but only if you comply with a lot of conditions and whenever you deviate slightly from them you lose the benefits and face a ridiculous high marginal tax rate because you started working again.
Here the difference in after tax income between someone earning 15k a year and 50k a year before taxes is only about 10k after all taxes and subsidies have been done

Because the world needs rehabilitated child predators. There is a point where feeling the pain of others is unhealthy and no good can come of it. If you don't draw the line at child sexual predators then there is a point, I'm sure, where you would draw a line and it probably wouldn't take a lot of creativity to find it. If you really would empathize with anyone it is not a good thing anon. Imagine a person so messed up they murder babies... over and over again. Not talking about abortions. Talking about finding babies in their cribs and murdering them. And liking it. No remorse.

Good for the people getting the free money (no jobs), bad for the tax payers (people with jobs-- for them it just means an added tax with a tiny tax rebate). Problem is bad effects (inflation, decreased labor output) take some time to show themself so people form conclusions before all the shit hits the fan.
