can't go wrong, very bullish for Q3 (though with AMD as volatile as a pennystock, it'll probably gain much more than TSM) with both consoles coming out and both carrying AMD. That's prob priced in, but expect chromebooks to adapt more AMD instead of Intel. Supercomputer contract (e.g. Aurora) need to replace their shit soon and Intel is out of the game since their 7nm was delayed. A lot more shit beyond server market share that Intel will lose because they don't have 7nm as their usual contracts expected them to be.

im personally a bit hesitant on AMD because i don't like how it keeps acting like a penny stock. I like TSM more that i don't have to give a shit about timing on it even though AMD will ultimately eat up the king's share of the hype and gains in the short-term.

Not that I'm bearish on semiconductors, but remember that all of these node names are marketing names and haven't been accurate since planar process transistors (protip: we're on FINFETs now, "3nm" describes no part of the node's actual geometry). Moore's law is dead and has been for years, but incremental improvement is still possible. Look at the performance data, not the node name (though at this time TSMC 7nm is probably the best matching its low number).

As to TSMC, if it were anywhere other than Taiwan I'd be hugely bullish, but given China's actions on HK and the world's reluctance to acknowledge Taiwan as a sovereign nation I think there's a real possibility Western militaries would not seriously contest the island in the event of an invasion. I don't think China would knowingly kick off a WW3, but I do think they'd take Taiwan if they thought they could get away with it (see also: Ukraine).

we don't know his average cost, but today was 492-500 depending on when he bought. at most he's down 8 bucks on one share. sure he can hold, but if we see a huge selloff he may be kicking himself for holding a 20-50 dollar loss. he can cut his loss now and buy back in after the split induced dip and get some actual profit, otherwise he'll be holding for weeks to get back to the 500/125 after split valuation.
