If the market is pricing in a Biden victory in November, then the market crash in 2008 was the market pricing in an Obama victory in November of that year. Banks never thought investors would panic so much and they were caught with their pants down. Mortgage backed securities were like a box of dynamite in the basement of the fire station. Nobody in charge of the dynamite thought the fire station would catch on fire. And the dynamite wasn't the cause of the fire. Obama started the Great Recession of 2008 and we have been deceived all this time.

This. too many larpers in these threads, these kids are getting on my nerves. this is why weekend /smg/ will always be superior for actually discussing important things.

what we SHOULD be spending our time trying to figure out now, is what the sell signal will be for when we should all be exiting the markets before or as early as possible into the next crash. i was thinking about it on my walk today and at a minimum i think if we ever get a circuit breaker, liquidate everything on the very first one, if the covid crash is anything to go by. because as long as things are fine we won't get one, you've noticed we haven't had one in quite some time. but like cockroaches, if you see one there's probably an infestation. but hopefully it would be nice to know an indicator better than that.

there's also pic related some anon talked about a while ago too but i haven't figured out where to find this indicator and install it in my ToS platform.

I fully expect a pullback tomorrow, and if there's no pullback, I expect the signal to hit today or tomorrow.
The maximum run before a hard crash I've ever seen with this signal was about 10% or so (i.e. market is just about, but not quite, going to crash when we hit the signal, there is still enough leeway for a play or two, but if you're all in, you WILL get burned).

Banks found the secret formula to free money, and its been their actions that have been dictating monetary policy for decades, as the various flavors of sociopath and psychopath rotate in and out for kicks. They are not interested in preserving the dollar. They are not interested in sustainability. They care only about making money, and leaving the consequences on others. The Fed, either naive or complicit towards these actions, continuously picked up the bill so the American people could keep chugging along a little while longer. The bankers and CEOs who started this are old or dead, the most recent ones retired to some hidden tropical getaway, and the current ones are surround by legal precedent to be protected from the consequences of their failing institution that's been shrinking since 2008. They will not give out anymore loans, they will not give away free debt, there is simply NO MORE DEBT TO GIVE. The banks will collapse (by design) and the Federal Reserve will step in to be the defacto lender to the American people till it implodes into a hyper-inflationary black hole, whether that be a month, a year, or a decade, but most likely IN YOUR LIFETIME.

Search your heart. You know it to be true.

Technically: Double top is forming on the SPY weekly, it's overbought, look at how high new price levels are at relative to support lines, and volume has declined.

Fundamentally: Covid cases are shooting up again, Fed money drying up, upcoming election shenanigans, too much euphoria and way too much talk of "SICK RALLY BRO. HOW MUCH HIGHER CAN WE GO?!?!"

Things aren't any different now, nor will they ever be. Even if it isn't a ball crushing correction that will make you into a eunuch like the one we saw in March, it should be a good opportunity to profit with puts.

I've got Apple puts expiring in late September , and November to cash in on poor sentiment for their new releases.

How did everyone's Monday go? Did you expect a sharp correction like the open? I felt a sharp correction coming so I tried to squeeze in as many put spreads as possible in the first 45 minutes but I was pretty busy at work today. Lots of hurricane & Californian fire issues causing logistics problems for my business partners.

I also fat fingered a BUY instead of a SELL for an overpriced DDOG option. So I'm down $700 on that for no good reason today. It's my first time doing something like that and I can't imagine doing that with a bigger amount of money. It still feels EXTREMELY bad.

Anyways, I have a huge bet on Apple not dropping below $490 and Google not dropping below $1520 by end of this week.

My BABA calls are doing awesome and so are my QQQ calls. I wish I sold the FB/QQQ calls on open though! But I also have to close the weeklies I sold against them and I was busy like I said so.. yeah. I'm thinking we'll have a hefty correction on Thursday and another repeat of last Friday. Basically I think the market will end up where we are right now at the end of the week, except for Apple and Tesla who are splitting. They will probably end at 500 and 2000/2100, strong support levels.

Not that anon.. however
Hello frens. SOXL is the answer. Face it. Semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, the list goes on. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, demand requires bigger, faster, cheaper, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender or other vain conceit. The multitude speaks in singular. The plea: semiconductor.
SOXL couples a single ETF entry point with the the best companies the space has to offer then pushes these already stellar returns to the limit with 3x leverage. With SOXL your economic interests align with hardware powerhouses TSM, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. Real tech companies with innovative products people want, not """tech""" """companies""" pushing shitty ads. And like all leveraged ETFs, SOXL is rebalanced daily, accelerating gains in an upmarket while mitigating margin risks in a down.
In the last 7 years, barring the coronavirus interruption, SOXL has exploded over 55x (not even counting dividends!) yet still we are early. Semiconductor growth will proceed exponentially until every viable space is saturated with it. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and compelling outcomes make it so. The injection of increasingly compact and efficient sensors, microcontrollers, information processing and storage into everywhere and everything will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXL holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for more "pullback". The crash was a gift and fretting over the exact bottom is meaningless. Waiting is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

You have to get a feel for reading the sentiment of the week before writing them. Or if you really want to feel less spooked, write them on Wednesday towards close or Thursday towards midday. You can still scrap 2-4% on far OTM. And if the general sentiment of the entire week is bullish, what are the chances Apple gaps down 10% on a Friday alone? Pretty much 0%. Sorry lad but you have just dug yourself into a hole that will put you in a massive financial disadvantage for the rest of your life. Take it from me, I only had ~$30k in debt and I finally dug myself out of the hole earlier in the year. I feel like I can finally spread my wings and start a new after 7 years of living frugally like a monk and missing out on most of my 20's.

USA is exceptional at this

30 year mortgage debt is considered an amazing thing to have. You "bought" a house. etc. We want the wagies captured and spend spend spending.

Debt is a huge way to get people motivated to wagie. You got those payments to take care of, work hard wagie.

aka no one would blame the system of capitalism for someone who took out 100k debt to buy a nice car and is broke now

They would call the purchase stupid

Yet with student debt everyone gets mad at billionaires and shit for it instead of the largely leftist commie majors and professors who spend 4 years screaming about oppression while charging 20k a year for the pleasure.

My parents have been fucked by every major market shift in the last 30 years. They lost big on the 90s bubble, lost big on REITs in 08 (which was sold to them as a super stable investment), sold all their stocks after this year's crash (expecting multi-year recession).
I'm trying to give them advice but they're too scared to yolo on companies they haven't heard of. My dad wants to put 50k on Amazon.
This could work, right? I mean what are the chances Amazon crashes, even in a Bear's wet dream?
