I got mine from Electrum 2.8 program. I was under impression that Cryptocurrency is instantaneous, seems like it requires more trust than sending money bank to bank. When I make a bank to bank transaction especially with same bank it appears right away, at most takes 30 min. I can't imagine sending someone cryptocurrency and wait few days to confirm they received it and my darknetmarket stuff is being shipped to me.. or am I missing something?

Electrum is a Bitcoin wallet. This isn't Bitcoin, so your wallet won't work for this currency.

As for the rest of your post, typically 2-3 confirmations is enough to consider a transaction safe, and those take on average 10 minutes per confirmation (the network adjusts itself to make sure it stays 10). For other coins, it's even faster.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. However, if you want to have multiple currencies and don't want to take the risk of leaving them on an exchange, yes, you'll have to create a wallet locally. Jaxx is a wallet where you are in control of the private key, so you don't need to go through Electrum or anything like that. Just make sure you backup your keys.

The BTC blockchain is a public ledger, so all transactions (and consequently all balances) are public. In other words, once you download the whole chain, you will know the balance of every address out there that's been used. You do not need to change your address each time you make a transaction or anything like that. Just one will do, but you can of course create as many as you wish to.

You can send coins to valid addresses that no one has the key for. Those coins would be gone forever. Technically, it is possible someone could find the key for it by coincidence (this applies to literally any address out there), but it's so ridiculously unlikely, it'll never happen. You could put together all the computers that exist in this world and have them try to bruteforce the address for millions of years and it would likely never find it.
