CBT is proven to work, classical psychoanalytical methods are not as effective, but still have a measurable effect that is enough to justify their existence.

Complex neuroses require another person because you can't make yourself stay with a thought/feeling without somebody making you ordetect errors in your thinking.

But generally, OP, I recommend CBT. It was made to be self-help and it's statistically the most effective treatment, with a better full recovery rate than drugs.

Psychoanalysis IMO helps cure the causes, but it takes more time and money. You're better off fighting the symptoms first.

>> No.14120

Hopefully this doesn't come off as advertising.

If any NEET is looking for making a quick few bucks (and a potential long-term "job"), I'm hiring. You need to be able to talk to indians on the phone and fill out forms. $20/hr. If you can do this, you've got the job.

I don't see the point of having a person apply CBT is all I'm saying.
Getting rid of errors in thinking just requires discipline, and some intelligence, and everything else follows from that. Finding causes is a waste of time that may or may not uncover trivia that has no relevance for the cure in any case. Knowing why the boy is crazy with no way to determine the veracity of any thesis is impossible and the actual danger of making a false thesis real in his mind and creating false memories makes the whole process dangerous on top of that.
I really don't believe in psychotherapy, but that could be a result of my psychopathology.
But then again I'm sane, many people are incredibly deluded on top of their phobias and maladjusted behaviours and these people often get very mad if you confront them.

Well, I partially agree with you. It's difficult, if not impossible, to measure subjective phenomena. In that profession, you mostly rely on practice rather than conscious learning. That's why experienced therapists are so valued.

But they also get taught to study the body language and figure out the person's feelings from the bodily sensation the person is experiencing. And the sessions mostly consist of questions rather than any concrete suggestions of what might be wrong. In fact, I think "molding" somebody is the one greatest fear that therapists have.

Classical methods mostly rely on a sort of profound internal realisation experienced by the person, which is both intellectual and emotional.

As for CBT, it's quite impressive. I think you can actually make yourself believe anything given enough time. It's also measurable more than any other method.

Most people have at least some neurotic tendencies, by the way, but that's just how the world works.

>> No.14241

>>14190
There's automatic thoughts you experience that are preter-conscious, meaning you cannot typically catch them without deliberately trying to.

They are what makes you feel emotion, for the most part. If you challenge them often enough, they will emerge into consciousness and slowly fade away.

Hue.
The problem with overly emotional delusional people, is that they will think on their own once the quest for the cause starts and can easily deceive themselves and start to believe that their daddy abused them or whatever, and then they have that on top of their other bullshit.

CBT is the only form of therapy that I trust in, and you don't even need a therapist for it. Many dislike it because it's not about wallowing in feelings but rather about pragmatically unfucking them.

>> No.14260

>>14190
You might be able to have hypnotherapy to tweak the emotional component. I've never tried it myself but a buddy of mine who needed to present to his bosses but was petrified of public speaking tried it - apparently the hypnotist tried to make it so he felt safe and at home when he stood up, like he was talking to his grandma. Apparently it didn't work perfectly, but he got through it much better than he thought possible with less terror. If I were a hikki I'd try it, the worst case is it fails and you wasted some money, best case is you feel tons better.

Come up with an idea, big or small. Don't think about profit but think about something you might enjoy doing. Keep thinking about it until you have an idea you think could work for you. Could be anything for making those T-shirts as one anon suggested, to brewing beer. This is good two ways, they can help you get over you issues but also that can wrote a recommendation to your doctor to perscribe you pills, not only that but a therapist is a major plus when you want NEETBUX as they can testify that you have a mental illness which prevents you from working.
>ask your therapist what you should do about money
Now just come out and say it the first day, wait a few months. Mention something like you not being able to pay your bills or perhaps the therapists bills. You can mention what options you have while you recover.
>Evaluation
You will then have to be evaluated by a psychiatrist, which is by far one of the most stressful experiences a person with anxiety or agoraphobia can go through besides an anal exam by some cutie doctor.
>Dont try to act cool

>questions
What kind of questions will he ask?
Usually it depends on the guy, but they have a check list of requirments so i assume the questions are similar.
Questions like:
>what happens when you are put in workplace situations?
Just list symptoms of your anxiety.
>What do you do in your spare time?
Lie. They dont want to hear "masturbating and browsing the jay" say some upstanding hobbies like reading.

>math questions
I shit you not he/she will ask you math questions, if you are bad at math or even worse at math under stress, you most likely will have a hard time answering these questions. Esspecially if you have anxiety.
>Do you have a spouse or dependants
Y..you too
>Are you currently seeking help for your condition
By this point you should have a counsilor or therapist so say yes.
>Has it helped you?
Lie if it hasnt helped much. Say you are making progress. Most likely you are making progress if you got the courage and pills to walk in there and take the evaluation.
>What month is it.
If you have bad enough anxiety even answering a simple question like this under stress can be hard.
>various medical questions
Answer those truthfully.

If you are a young man, 16 - 25 its likely you will get OK'd for NEETBUX, if you are 30+ its more difficult and you may have to take it to court if they deny you NEETBUX, which can be nearly impossible if you really have agoraphobia.

Depending on your state (im assuming you are in burgerland) they have varying degrees of payment based on how high your bills are are how much of those bills you are paying

So if you are just paying the internet bill whike your parents are paying for everything else, you will get less money.
If you are paying for nearly every bill and your parents want to leech off your NEETBUX for booze and leave you high and dry they may give you more.

Depending on the state they may give you anywhere from 400 to 700 a month, which is not enough to live by yourself on and rarely enough to pay bills, so enjoy having that money vanish as soon as you get it and never having enough to save or use on yourself.

You cant get a job while on it. If you want more money youll have to suck dicks as getting a REAL job will cause your free money to go Byebye.

Enjoy still being poor.

This is speaking as an unemployed fellow myself. Personally though I find the term "NEET" pretty insulting, because you can always, always educate yourself without paying an institution. Of course, this is the "loser's" way or something because people can't do anything by themselves.

It's depressing in a way because with my autism I'd be an excellent stocker at a store. I know that's not really much to aspire to, but I needed a job so I attempted to get it. It was a local hardware store, but during the interview they told me I needed more retail experience. It was disheartening, honestly.

If I had thought about it at the time, I could have lied and said I stocked stuff at the Games Workshop before it closed, which isn't even a lie since I would help the employees when I was there.

Not even a job agency would help me, as I'm pretty sure they took my information and sold it to companies without even attempting to help me. I asked them, but they said "wait until we contact you" which is the complete opposite of what the woman told me during my "interview."

I don't get it.

They tell you to get a job, but nobody wants to give you a job.

Then when you finally do, you throw fifty years of your life down the drain doing something you can barely stand, with people you have nothing in common with and bosses who don't give a shit about you.

Then when you finish that up, you spend the last thirty-ish years aimlessly wandering, because stockholm syndrome kicked in and you'd rather be drain-throwing your life away in a cubicle than having all the time in the world to do the things you want with the people you like.

You die if you work.

Former NEET officeworker here. Haven't had my first evaluation yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing quite well in the job, provided my issues don't get in the way. When something triggers my anxiety I pretty much shut down and work at a snail's pace for quite some time though, but I think my performance is high enough otherwise to make up for it. The pay is nice too, but I don't think it's something I want to work until retirement on. I'm not sure what the next step to take is, which is why I'm interested in seeing how this board turns out.

I found enough junk in the yard that I made a forge.

I did a bit with it, but there's no support here for blacksmithing or anything so everything is down to me doing research.

I have to do it in stints where I'm into it for a month or three, then lose interest and do other things.

Beekeeping and fishing are good ideas, because you don't need a lot of capital to start- and the former IMHO is a fun hobby.

Remember as a NEET your capital is the time you have, but it's not worth anything if you don't stay a bit optimistic all the time.
Something I've learnt also is to not worry about the wasted time - you have to live in the now.

>>21979
I am like that too - walking to the bottle shop to get some rum, was in my mind like going over the top of a world war 1 trench. It felt like it too. After that I felt confident and took up running at night.
But!
Even if you succeed once, you might relapse later in the year when the various factors on the body cause you to become depressed, less active and confident etc. I know I did, and now I've given up running months ago and procrastinated going to the shops for a week to get some herbal toothpaste. So much for all that progress!

Employers will ignore that 2 years experience requirement if they really need a spot filled. I also think the area you're in matters a lot as well.

As for the anxiety, I try to keep to myself, just bury myself in work, and be polite when interaction is necessary. I can sort of compensate for my utter lack of social ability by doing that.

It depends where you live.

I went on the internet and found an industry report that listed the economics and production values for my country:
http://www.honeybee.com.au/Library/gibsmuir.html
You'd need to find one for your country/area/ continent.

from this I was able to produce pic related, a table of possible earnings per hive kept.

It's a viable hobby for some pocket change.
Wether it's a viable business depends on your country.
I am planning to sell the product to friends and family as well as at markets. I am considering selling to health-freak mummies that buy in co-operatives.

If you are doing it as a backyard thing, you'll just be making honey and wax.

This next bit will focus on business, so ignore it except for interest's sake.
If you have enough capital well you could do it as an occupation/business - but consider that what you produce varies on country.
Here in Australia it's mostly honey as a primary product and wax as a by-product, but there are also pollen, royal jelly, propolis and pollination sectors.

For instance the USA has a large pollination sector- not enough other insects to pollinate their plants.
Russia (and IIRC, Europe) has propolis production.
Emerging markets are royal jelly products, especially for the Chinese market, and pollen is increasingly looked upon by the health freak nutters.

Mead remains an interesting thing, especially with the rise of geek-chic in terms of things like Game of Thrones becoming mainstream- potentially a good market.

Not a whole lot, people in cities put hives on building roofs for instance.
Bees tend to fly outwards and upwards from the hive, so there's sort of a zone around the hive which is the landing airspace (a bit like the restricted airspace at an airport). Obviously you don't want to be doing too much in this space.
They need a water source- be that a creek, a gravel filled water container or one with bits of wood/weeds floating on for them to sit on while they drink. Or your neighbours swimming pool, heheheh.

For the rest of the activities you need somewhere to hang up your suit, a workbench to fit frames with new foundation wax.
For a hobbyist or even medium scale producer, the extraction plant size isn't that big - you need somewhere to put the incoming honey supers (boxes with frames of honey), a place to uncap the frames, and a centrifugal extractor (either hand cranked or electrically powered.

I could deal with no TV, and even no phone to an extent, but it's the bill for the whole house. If I even tried to cut it, I'd get my head torn off. And I don't have a cell phone; Wouldn't be able to afford the payments even if I did.

I could get some money for school, of which I wouldn't need to pay back, but I need to get my mother's tax records for it to be anything sizable. This has caused me the miss the cut off date for FASFA twice now. I don't even have medical of any sort, and haven't really had any type of check up in years

Delude yourselves further. Two things are inevitable in the scarce modern world:
Work and Taxes.

It may not seem so now, but the consequences will rear their ugly heads soon.

Yes: Retirement seems like a pipe dream, when 50 percent of Americans with 50 percent of their money cannot put away 50,000 dollars.
Who said retirement was something easily attained for the masses?

Let me tell you the story of my great great great grandfather, Uli. Uli had been a Norwegian immigrant during the end Guilded age in my country. Now, my grandfather was worked to the bone, tooth, and skin, surviving on small rations that he could get due to the shit he had to go through. My great great grandfather Franklin had to work himself to the bone making munitions for troops in World War I. My great grandfather Julius had worked himself to the bone as a carpenter as well.

I come from a long line of workers and god dammed if I don't support their legacy.

I worked at Leapfrog for about a year during 2010-2011. The pay was pretty good and they would offer bonuses for doing certain things at certain times. The base pay was $13.50/hr but during bonus weeks I would make around $17/hr. The job itself is pretty easy and you can work from home whenever you want (if there is work available). After a few months, I got the highest rating possible, and if I had persisted and worked more, I could have qualified for a promotion to $17.50/hr base. I received their payments every month, about a month after the end of the working period. There was one month I did not receive payment, but that is because I did not do enough work to meet the minimum requirements so they did not accept my invoice. It was only $20, so it was not worth the effort to dispute. (also I stopped caring about maintaining the job because I got a real one)

I found a lot of downsides, though. The work was mind-numbing. I didn't really need the money at the time, so for the most part I only did a bit over the minimum work to maintain my position. You have to use Firefox and install a toolbar that you sign into and it tracks your activity. You have to keep detailed records of when you work and what you did then, which they compare to their records from the toolbar. I wrote a small program to help me record what tasks I was doing at what times.

For a NEET though, I would recommend it. The interpersonal communication required is negligible and in the rare occasion that it is necessary, it is close to anonymous between users. The main skills required are critical thinking and familiarity with the internet. Work hours were flexible for my then-shitty sleep schedule.

Things have probably changed since I was there, but I never found any indication that it was a scam.

There's a page you go with tasks. It just gives you a couple categories that are available. The most basic one gives you a search query (something that someone actually typed into google) and a link to a webpage. You read the query and then go to the webpage. You have to rate the usefulness of the webpage for someone searching for that query.

You have to figure out the searcher's intent behind the query, analyze the page for its quality and to make sure it's not spam/plagarized/porn, then use a rating scale to determine how highly it should be displayed when someone searches for that query.

You have two minutes to rate each query/link combo. Once you submit your rating, they bring you another query and link if there are any left, or send you back to the category page if there aren't.

Try seeing a non-shit doctor, and try seeing a therapist either instead of or in addition to the psychiatrist. Most psychiatrists just throw medicine at the problem until it goes away, for better or worse. Sometimes medicine is all someone needs.

Neuropsych testing might be worthwhile as well, but that's mainly if you think there's something wrong with your actual mental faculties.

Also, it's worth note that it really can be hard to accurately judge your mental state if you never put your mind to use. (IE if all you do is lay around and post on 4chan.)

Serious answer: Expose yourself to the outside, slowly, little by little. Are you fine being outside if you're in a car? If so, then try driving (or being driven) to a small building, then going inside and trying to be comfortable in that space. Agoraphobia is more of a fear of open-spaces, than a fear of the outside.

Do you have a friend or a relative? When you try re-introducing yourself to the outside you should get them to come with you for emotional support. It helps.

NEET !== hikki
there's no reason to be purposedly NEET if you were raped, unless you don't leave the house anymore, like I do.

Sources: raped as a kid too. By a nigger.

Have you guys ever tried buying stuff from thrift shops and reselling on Ebay

My local thrift shop is too over priced to make anything off of reselling.

And even if I found something nice, I have no way to price check it before I buy so as to not lose money.

No, lots of people who were raped as kids go on to be productive members of society. You should feel bad.

Is Leapfrog dead for home-office work? I could just find some manufacturer of tablets.

Nevermind, it's Leapforce and you've got confused by the first poster.

My friends and I called it "Leapfrog" because we thought of the job as a joke. Sorry if that was confusing; I thought the image having the correct company name would be enough.

They are based in the US but they have specific positions for people in other countries. Google wants their European results to match what European users would expect. They used to mail me checks, but before I left they were talking about using EFT, so I doubt there will be a problem. Also, they don't employ you. You're just an "Independent Contractor" so they don't give you any benefits. The upside of that is that paying foreigners should be much easier for them.
