Opposite. You want to pool STA after it pumps. This helps give you a higher percentage of the pool (ie, your STA is worth more). Then when the price dumps, your share of the pool is the same, but when you unpool, it has to give you a larger number of STA since the price went down.

Along the way the pool collects fees on each trade, adding them into the pool. So it increases the value of your share of the pool. STA wolume has been around $1 million/day this week, so lots of fees.

You pool Delta, and also get ROI from having it. When you are pooled and it dumps, you're sitting fairly safe. When you are pooled and it pumps, you miss out on a large portion of profits compared to just holding STA. Pretty much - Low Risk, Low Reward.
