Could be a lot of things. People were freaking out over Epic and Apple and look where it is now. Slight reaction, but not a bad one. It's kind of like the Congressional hearings.. sounds bad but it's really not. Google and Amazon, with no real news they will generally move with the market (NASDAQ) but in a healthier direction. Basically looking at its support levels based on previous news. For example, August 11 dip to 3080 on Amazon, along with the rest of the market. So I'd look somewhere around there 3040-3060 to write spreads.

For RSI I'm looking at monthly but also the RSI of previous "dips" (Amazon 3080, Aug 11 for example) and judging where it might "dip" next in the case of a market correction. So for a week like this week (SPX nearing ATH, NASDAQ 11,100+) I might be a bit more bullish. It's really personal preference.

>>21555601
Hi that's me. For positions I close them out if I see bad news on the horizon that's actually bad (Amazon losing couriers or a lawsuit, something like that) but otherwise I only close them out if I want to free up capital for over-the-weekend SPY spreads or Thursday->Friday single day spreads. Basically, if they're worth $1-5 per contract to buy back, I'll just buy them back regardless and write new spreads that are super conservative but still can get me 1% by Friday expiration. Those I will let expire. So it's really not 10-15% off of a single position, it's cycling multiple positions. Write Monday, close Wednesday.. Write Tuesday, close Thursday, write for Friday, expire on Friday. Close early on Friday, write for Monday (SPY only) etc.

Franchise outfit NPC International have filed chapter 11. 300 Pizza Hut locations will be closed as a result. I dunno how they fucked this up. Pizza sales during pandemic have been great. Note that Hut parent company Yum Brands is fine, this is just a franchise company hitting the skids.

I'm curious why you think lithium has had its time.
Consumer electronics are still filling out all the little niches and I'm a firm believer that electric vehicles will be driving a new wave of demand for Li and LiO_2. I suspect large scale energy storage will become bigger and bigger in the coming years too with utilities being pushed to use more PV, which will create demand for the minerals market I'm thinking. I'm not seeing any other cost effective storage medium out there. I'm curious to hear your take.

I've been wanting to get into nickel since Q1 though.

There are over looked components to batteries that have been in a bear cycle for a decade+ (nickel notably). On top of that, many manufacturers are exporting battery chemistries that use even more nickel (90% in some cases).

I don't know what you're waiting for for nickel, the time to get in was May. Any more waiting is just wasted potential imo

Look m88:

WKHS vehicles are about $55k a pop, that puts them over the line. Thing is, there's huge subsidies and internal governmental pressures for public adoption of ZEVs. USPS is public sector. California's CARB program is being used as a model for FIFTEEN other states which are supposed to have their goals in place by EoY due to their MoU signed recently. Moreover the "Moving Forward Act" is going to put a lot of fuel on the ZEV fire. They're the sole ZEV contender. The sole green contender. And simply by the virtue of fewest moving parts they're the cheapest vehicle to service. Not to mention they have stakes in LMT to keep them afloat while they mobilize their production line. They're moving 200-300 trucks by EoY.

They won't get the whole contract, ZEVs with minuscule range for last mile delivery simply can't handle the cold weather extremes of the Northern US. Those are some of the least populous states, though. In between the bands in the image, we might see something like mixed deployment. Everything below the fine band can run battery powered vehicles year round with some exceptions due to extreme heat.

The contract is said to be satisfied in 5 to 7 years.

Those CARB vouchers are worth $50k a pop, the federal subsidies are worth $7k a pop. California will be subsidizing full vehicle purchases for USPS, more or less while the vouchers are available. The Federal subsidies are good until WKHS produces 200k units.

There are 180k units in the contract. At the $55k price tag, USPS can't afford issuing the whole contract to WKHS immediately. The 7.5k factors to a 13.6% discount, totaling $8.6bn. I don't know the funding limits of the CARB program, but they total slightly more than $1bn alone. CA has numerous other ZEV programs that USPS /could/ exploit.

You know, I was reflecting on something. Someone was telling me about their meme stock that was up 100% for no particular reason other then hype. I mentioned that they should probably sell and lock in their gains before the stock drops. The other person replied that they were just going to keep holding because they already made 100%, so clearly they were going to make more.
And it struck me just now that this is the entire market at the moment. Trillions of dollars in flooding the market because people think stocks will only ever go up.
This, more then anything, is what made me realize Buffet was and will always be right. The only thing you can do is focus on quality and quality only and holding on for the long-term. To try to outguess momentum, hype, timing and all these other factors is impossible. Sure, you might get lucky, but most of the time you won't.

Yeah. The whole market is actually the trappings of every daytrader, investor, and institution working on different timeframes and juggling arbitrage prices with risk premiums that are based on flawed probabilistic models pushing candles around at light speed. Good news can go both ways, and so can bad news. There are gamblers and investors and traders and they all have different sensitivities and models and that all just complicates everything, and there's a loser at the end of every trade so the market is intrinsically adversarial.

blindly using a trailing stop can easily screw you over too. Using one with a volatile stock is practically equivalent to a sell order
i missed out on +30% profits on weed stocks because my trailing stop triggered prematurely.

now i just use stop losses (or heck just alerts) a bit under supports, the idea being that if support is broken in the first place, the stock price can potentially fall much faster and you want to get out. But if it doesn't break support, it'll probably just bounce back up assuming it has good fundamentals / future prospects

A ton. Virtually all of retail this side of walmart (which is trying hard to convert to e-retail) is dead. Anything mom-and-popsy is forever dead, but that's been the case for a while. REITs aren't doing anywhere near as good as the shills would like you to believe if they're commercial. Lots of small airlines went bankrupt as well, big guys probably getting bailed all around, but there will be many more deaths.
PMs are very safe right now. Oil is a mixed bag, but it's so manipulated that no analysis works here.
All restaurants are pretty much going to be dead forever because nobody's going to line up to eat with a mask on their face that they have to put back on between each bite, even if they don't fear the corona because of mass media hysteria.

Apple is still a relatively fair value considering it's practically a country of its own with its exclusive ecosystem. The leverage calculation needs to take into account the premium for the LEAP, though, right? Deeper in the money means higher Delta, but also higher premiums. A theoretical $0 call would have a Delta of 1.0 but a premium exactly equal to the cost of a share, thus perfectly mimicking just buying 100 shares (leverage of x1).

When the volatility is high (or you think its spiking) you want to avoid OTM calls at almost all costs because IV crush will kill your YOLO gains. When vola is stupid high, you can at least still leverage using ITM calls.
I have been doing this for weeks with SLV. Deep ITM calls when it POOMPS and loaded the fuck up with OTM calls when there was that JPM/Citibank brand DOOMP last week (or any correction ideally).
If you believe there is a secular bull argument for an underlying that is the way to play it. Purchase OTM calls on dips, sell on pumps or especially when they are ITM. Purchase ITM Leaps for leverage when POOMPED. Purchase ATM short dated (day or less than a week) calls or dumps to follow price action.

like i'm not against AMD either, their PE ratio might be 100+ too but their roadmap is excellent and their dominance against Inte for the next 5 years is practically guaranteed.
yet it's too volatile for my taste, especially if I can just buy TSM instead as a sort of more stable proxy investment into AMD.

for amazon, i don't like their e-commerce side that much, it';s only good because it screws over the actual postal services holding it up. Like FedEx actually ended up much better off once they lost the amazon deal.
