I'm not going to lie to you, it takes a lot of time and effort. I start out by going through the list on Coinmarketcap, checking out the linked announcement pages and see if the project is doing something unique and interesting; if the answer to this is yes, then I add them to my list of projects to research. If not I move on to the next one.

Once you have compiled your list then you have to spend a minimum of a good couple of hours delving deeper into each project in order to come to the conclusion of whether or not it is worth risking your money investing in it.

Repeat this until you have diversified into a few coins/tokens then simply HODL and keep a watchful eye over each project to see how they are progressing. I'd advise that you try to keep the number of projects you are invested in under 10, anymore than that and it would be almost impossible to keep up with them all.
