21458343 No.21458343 [Reply] [Original]

Look, I might buy some PNK but I'm definitely not as sold as I was with LINK in 2017.

Some questions.

1. Jurors are expected to actually take time to study the case they are to decide upon. How much is a juror expected to get paid for his diligent work?

2. The whole point of lawyers and judges is to translate into convincing human language what is otherwise a jungle of laws and regulations, and to guide this process according to the law. That's the reason you don't just put to parties in front of each other with a jury and no judges or lawyers. How does PNK solve this?

3. Given 1 and 2, If this whole process of decentralized deciding costs actual money (and not a little bit at that, given you have to pay jurors good money to get good judgment) why not just skip the decentralization part and go to actual court where you can at least be certain that a lawyer will milk the law in your favor for all it's got?

4. How do you make sure jurors don't just pick whatever option without actually studying the case much?

4.1 Saying that your staked tokens will be penalized if you vote against the majority is not a satisfying answer here, because then you'll get into Reddit practices where every sub becomes an echo chamber because everyone is scared to speak his own truth if he expects it will get him downvotes.

Depends on the price of ETH, PNK, and the number of jurors on the case. I got about $60 from case 302.

PNK does not deal with law. It is for contract arbitration. This is frequently done by PRIVATE arbitration firms in meatspace, because theyre faster and more efficient than actual legal courts. Read any arbitration clause of any contract ever

>lawyers and judges
In typical commercial practice parties want to keep disputes OUT of the hands of traditional litigators insofar as they can, which is why they usually have alternate dispute resolution mechanisms baked into their contracts. Litigation is almost always a waste of time and money. When we are talking about the smart contract economy of the future, parties will have a large volume of smart contracts operating at any given time - the economies of scale that entice economic actors to the blockchain also necessitates a means of dispute resolution that matches that economy of scale.

In short, stop thinking of 'Kleros Court' like an actual court, it's decentralised arbitration for which they will be a massive appetite for. They will for the most part be applying common sense to very simple contractual disputes.

Despite all the court case memes, it's not REALLY supposed to be used like that. Its ideal use is for small scale things where actually going through the judicial process would be far too expensive and a waste of time for both parties. Al your questions will be answered by just reading the white paper, please do so.

>1. How much is a juror expected to get paid for his diligent work?
Jurors get paid for answering questions. They "stake" an amount of PNK and will if their vote doesn't align met the majority they lose a part of their stake. They will get paid in ETH if they answer correctly.
This depends on the kind of question and what jurors are needed. (Again, check the website)

>2.
This gets solved by the amount that needs to be staked, for high level questions the amount that gets staked is very significant. So if you have no idea what you're doing you will only lose money in the progress.
No troll is going to risk >$200 that is being staked.
(Again... This is discussed in the white paper, read it!)

>3.
The process of going to an actual court is time consuming and takes a lot of money. Kleros does this cheaper and with pretty much full transparency.

>4.
See my answer to question 2, they will lose money

>4.1
You don't stake actual money when writing a reddit comment, what kind of shit comparison is this. If reddit costs $200 per comment I'm sure it would look entirely different

Also anyways, what makes Kleros worth investing in isn't just its court its the entire idea of a decentralised oracle. It does what LINK can't, they go very well together.

*bangs PNK gavel*

1. Depends on dispute value, amounts being staked, juror hitrate+availability and dispute complexity.

*bangs PNK gavel*

2. PNK isnt for those kinds of cases, or at least not yet. Its is a dispute smart contract to be deployed by two consenting parties much like open-shut cases are. Additionally current law is already broken, expensive and easily manipulable by comparison leading to unjust rulings while also clogging up an already overburdened judicial system.

*bangs PNK gavel*

3. "milking the law" is faggotry which leads to bullshit time wasters and the wrong party winning. Evidence is king. Chad-Jurors here have to EARN their place instead of having it given to them. Also refer to 2 above. Also in this case, decentralization = incorruptible Chad-Jurors.

*bangs PNK gavel*

4. Virgin-Jurors in the system get fucked hard and lose everything fast while Chad-Jurors make a killing off the Virgin-Jurors failures, eliminating them from the system much like they are to be eliminated from the genepool.

*bangs PNK gavel*

4.1 Plebbit is guided and thus heavily moderated and controlled by weakling faggots who cannot stand the truth, much like a cuck guides a bull into his wife. Decentralization and Chad-Juror anonymity fixes this.

The Chad-Jurors have ruled these to be both good but ignorant questions. You are sentenced to DYOR and either get in or get out.

Oke I just read the whitepaper.

My problem as I understand it now is the following: A juror is not asked to vote on what he thinks is right, he is asked to vote for what he thinks the shilling point will be. These are two different things.
For example if you know that you know more than the average person in your niche about this specific thing, it might be in your best interest to vote against what you think the actual outcome should be in favor of what your average lower level peers will think. Take for example the case of an Einstein. It might be that Einstein knows some answer to be correct but he also knows that his lower level peers will most likely deem that answer incorrect due to the average lower level knowledge on some specific subject of physics of his pers. This creates for him a conundrum where he would probably rather just step back from voting all together because none of the options would feel right. But asaik you cannot withdraw once you've been chosen.

Another problem I still have is with cases that concern a gray area of opinions (and let's be honest, aren't most in the real world?) where the outcome of votes might be something like 49/51, or even 60/40. Simply because too many people - though they tried and took the case seriously - voted for (in hindsight) the wrong shelling point. I do not see this as very encouraging for jurors OR the contract creators. Such outcomes will undoubtedly be appealed, but if I were chosen as a juror for any appeal case that had a result of 51/49 i'd be wise to stay away from it, not even because I don't know the RIGHT answer, but because it is proven in the previous case that I can't trust other jurors to choose the same shelling point as I do.

is there a satisfying answer to these perceived problems?

>4. Virgin-Jurors in the system get fucked hard and lose everything fast while Chad-Jurors make a killing off the Virgin-Jurors failures

Another potential problem: What if the original juror pool in a subcourt happen to consist of a few more people that are misguided in their beliefs or ideas about a subject, but because they were put together in statistically more court cases chose the winning shelling point, thereby pushing out the jurors who actually have a clue because they come to see that their actual skill is not being rewards, created something akin of a misguided echo chamber within certain subcourts?
