"Last year, Mr Hunt bought large quantities of silver on commodities markets, throwing them into disarray. Normally, these markets trade contracts to deliver a commodity at a future date, and are not prepared to deliver large amounts of the commodity itself."

The ghost of the Hunt Brothers will soon be put to rest. Hope you all have your miners and physical silver ready.

And if it looks like this then you doing it right.
In all seriousness if the fed keeps brrrrring then I believe the price will keep going up.

they're heavily leveraged and a deflationary shock looks highly likely right now, as we are entering the second dip in the W-shaped recovery

Congress, just like in the mortgage crisis of 2007-2009, is going to let millions of americans default and be foreclosed on, so they and their friends can buy up cheap real estate and consolidate power in the hands of those with the most assets.

A serious shock to the price of miners could trigger a wave of defaults in the silver miners. The metal will only dip and rise. The miners go bankrupt, and there's no coming back from that.

>Just before Thanksgiving, I met with Bunker Hunt, then the richest man in the world, at the Petroleum Club in Dallas. Bud Dillard, a Texan friend and client of mine who was big in the oil and cattle businesses, had introduced us a couple of years before, and we regularly talked about the economy and markets, especially inflation. Just a few weeks before our meeting, Iranian militants had stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking fifty-two Americans hostage. There were long lines to buy gas and extreme market volatility. There was clearly a sense of crisis: The nation was confused, frustrated, and angry. Bunker saw the debt crisis and inflation risks pretty much as I saw them. He’d been wanting to get his wealth out of paper money for the past few years, so he’d been buying commodities, especially silver, which he had started purchasing for about $ 1.29 per ounce, as a hedge against inflation. He kept buying and buying as inflation and the price of silver went up, until he had essentially cornered the silver market. At that point, silver was trading at around $ 10. I told him I thought it might be a good time to get out because the Fed was becoming tight enough to raise short-term interest rates above long-term rates (which was called “inverting the yield curve”). Every time that happened, inflation-hedged assets and the economy went down. But Bunker was in the oil business, and the Middle East oil producers he talked to were still worried about the depreciation of the dollar. They had told him they were also going to buy silver as a hedge against inflation so he held on to it in the expectation that its price would continue to rise. I got out.”

My guess is the absence of upward pressure on prices (yeah, I know, food, but that's mostly supply chain they'll argue) means there is no immediate need to slow the growth of Fed balance-sheets or to raise short-term interest rates from their floor (which they can't do). Low inflation current inflation (imo due to low velocity of money) is therefore the fundamental reason they don't seem to worry about the debt, which, thanks to accommodative monetary policy, now costs so little to service that it looks like free money.

I am writing off most of August as a crab month. UNLESS there's another crash or stimulus.
Admittedly I do think the chances of another market crash are pretty high. Trump's $400 UI is cool, but most states are either unable or unwilling to actually make it happen since they have to contribute 25%. If you look at pic related, NY & CA are already saying they just functionally cannot actually meet the contribution necessary, which means everyone in those states is just fucked. That's like a fifth of the US population, and that's before you realize that most other states are saying "we are not sure if we are going to be able to do this".
So what's going to happen when suddenly an economy that even the mainstream acknowledges was only chugging along because of stimulus, is suddenly and completely cut off from it? I think another flash crash like in March. That will force the politicians to come to some sort of agreement on new stimulus, or at least a new big buying program from the Fed. Whether that will happen in August or we can chug along on vapors for another two weeks before it happens, who knows? My guess is probably not though.

I highly recommend everyone who can sit on the side with some dry powder. I'm not selling my gold or miners right now, but I am trying to get as much cash ready as I can to buy the next big dip.

Just hold dude. The share price recovery will probably be even quicker than last time.
If there's one thing that can make Dems and Reps work together, it's their rich donors calling up and yelling at them about letting the market crash.
Also entirely possible they could get a deal done or the Fed could release a new big buying program pre-emptively to front run the crash.

>> No.21415176

>>21415064
No way, there will have to be a few more crashes like that before it dies, but this will certainly hurt.
One of the most notable things about March was that physical prices never dropped, and paper gold/silver prices recovered faster than anything else (literally any index).

What happens is
>paper price crashes
>retail physical stays the same
>retail physical sells out
>everyone with two brain cells to rub together sees the arbitrage opportunity
>paper contracts standing for delivery push the price back up

Last time we had this happen JPM had to actually deliver something like 1/4 of its silver stack. I think they will probably survive another hit, and IMO are likely to just abandon their shorts. COMEX will die eventually, but it won't be the next crash. If you can pick up some cheap physical by all means do, but don't hold your breath, look for cheap miners instead.

China, they have gone through so much flooding that our food prices will double in the coming months. countries will have to deal with millions of starving chinks fleeing their country looking for food...
and thats if the 3 gorges dam doesn't break (spoiler alert is already broken past the point of no return) expect 200 million dead chinks, and the majority of their manufacturing and agriculture to be completely destroyed.

now ask yourself what that would do to the economy in a good year. let alone right now. we'll be lucky if the DOW only crashes 20%

It's not a name it's a lifestyle.
Personally I don't think COMEX will crash, I think the banks will abandon their short positions before that. But IF they try and play it stubborn, then it will crash. COMEX has to get to a point where it's roughly the same price level as retail bullion, or they're screwed. Used to be that they could be a price giver to retail, I think that it's becoming increasingly obvious they are now a price taker.

The "hammer the price down" strategies used to work when at least some people could convince themselves that we weren't going to keep printing and spending trillions every few months. That's why they were able to get the price back down after 2011.

But IMO we're in a different kind of world now, and this was obvious even before Covid. Look up the bet between Schiff and Brett Johnson if you want an example of this. There were people even just in 2018 who thought that we were going to see rates rise again, and then of course when they rose what happened? Immediate market crash.

Nobody can even lie to themselves about that now. The moment rates go up, or stimulus gets pulled back, or QE starts getting wound down, the whole thing crashes and everyone (except maybe Senators in D.C.) know it. This is unironically a new paradigm, and it's bigger than any bank or exchange or anything.

>>21415293
Yeah I hear you but they've been talking about the three gorges collapsing for weeks now. Seems like a nothingburger to me. Plus China's already obligated to buy a bunch of American food from their trade deal, so they'll probably just do that.

"Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway snaps up Barrick Gold in Q2, sells Goldman Sachs"

This is enormous news. We all suspected that Buffet was hoarding physical silver; this confirms that he has become fully converted to precious metals. This investment will cause all eyes to turn on the mining industry, and make miners soar. Buffet has claimed to hate gold his whole life. His selling Goldman Sachs also suggests that Alasdair Macleod is right about an imminent banking crisis. In the eighty-ninth year of his age, even Warren Buffet is now investing like Peter Schiff.

BERKSHIRE bought BARRICK

he did not buy gold, he bought GOLD

It makes up 0.28% of the portfolio, while Visa is 0.97%, Coca Cola is 10.08%, and AAPL is 35.52%.
So I wouldn't get too excited, but it does make me wish I'd added to Barrick or the RING etf this week.

Big if true

I posted one thing a few days ago, but there were subtle hints about this. They have been pruning Goldman and JPM shares, while buying BoA. The former 2 shit on gold, and the later is bullish (calling for 3k). So they were positioning for gold to rise, by proxy, since may.

If they just buy gold outright, it says they're not satisfied with that and are convinced enough to actually admit yellow rock go up out loud.

Now if they start buying miners, that's some real shit.

That idea is older than a few months... and if I' really blunt about it we already have digital money in practice.

In October last year is dropped that china was going to introduce a gold back digital Renminbi maybe in 6 to 9 months (but that's been talked about a few times before that). Well, we are past that time period. It's been talked about that China has a heap of gold and will crush the USD in this way. Of course this is absolute ridiculous. But as things have turned out it's obvious that whatever way forward it's going to be hard money and a digital USD is NOT going to be considered hard money as it no long has the function of the old fashioned fraudulent USD. No one will want to use it in practice.

lol dude if all of the rich people simply gave their money to everyone else, it would simply result in prices for goods and services to skyrocket and nobody would be better off. It's pointless to want more equality because it won't benefit anyone. Money is not resources, it's just a tool that moves resources. It has an inverse relationship with resources.

anon the reason why old people refuse to understand inflation is simple.
every few generations people get the idea to make a fiat currency. in the beginning its great, because all the inflation you're creating takes decades to make any difference, then all of a sudden the inflation takes off and destroys the next 2 generations wealth. then people revolt and demand a real currency back by metals.
But back to the point, boomers willingly fucked over their children and grandchildren for easy money, so they refuse to admit it. other wise they'd have to take responsibility for their actions

also the US school system is pretty much a day care in half the country its truly a joke

David Hume gives the concisest explanation of inflation I know.

"Suppose, that, by miracle, every man in Great Britain should have five pounds slipt into his pocket in one night. This would much more than double the whole money that is at present in the kingdom; and would only serve to increase the prices of every thing, without any farther consequence."

Too many people don't get involved in their children's upbringing, then blame the system for not raising their children for them. You can have the best school district for a child imaginable, but if their parents aren't involved in any capacity beyond enrolling them, it makes little difference. Until people can place blame upon themselves, all we'll do is regurgitate the same mantra of 'systems are broken, education is fucked'.

Thomas Malthus quotes that same passage in his Essay on Human Populations. We're all fighting over scarce resources, simply because the earth does have a maximum carrying capacity in terms of food production. And no matter how good your tech level gets, you'll still have a cap, albeit higher for the calories you can make in a year. And since humans can reproduce geometrically, but only increase their food output arithmetically (at best), the limit always gets reached.

This is the reason that Malthus' work was banned in the USSR. LMAO

An increase in the supply of money implies that more money is chasing the same amount of goods. Hence the goods require more money to buy.

If you show them the loss of purchasing power in the dollar between 1971 and the present day, they ought to understand. Then show that gold can pretty much buy today what it always did.

Gold is, as you say, undervalued right now, and not overvalued, and is going to correct and soar to the upside. Being poor is not an excuse for being a shitty parent. The reason these schools are shit are because the kids are shit. The kids are shit because the parents are shit. If these kids had competent parents that motivated them to actually pursue an education, and see the public school system as something more than a daycare, you would see an enormous increase in graduation rates. If they weren't born to single mothers and had no common father among their siblings, maybe they'd succeed even in admittedly not as well funded school districts.

I've used this example before: if there was a beautiful house for sale for $200,000, and then they "just gave everyone a million dollars", how much do you think people would be willing to pay for the house? People will bid up the price of the house way beyond $200k because they want it and have the ability to do so. The same thing happens with stocks, cars, clothing, etc.

That's inflation.

Now what happens if there's a hundred beautiful houses for sale for $200,000 each and then they just give a few people billions of dollars without giving any to anyone else? The people with billions of dollars buy the houses for $200,000 each (because no one else has money to bid them up), but then the billions of dollars flow through the economy and create inflation anyway. That's the Cantillion Effect.

SILJ is the mainstream ETF which everybody buys, and the stocks which I just gave are its largest holdings. In other words, if you believe that silver and silver miners are going up, those stocks are perfectly safe.

Mining stocks give you 3x leverage to the underlying metal; and, as mining stocks are already vastly undervalued, they need to go 3x at any rate simply to get back to a normal Metal:Miner ratio. This is why, when silver gets to $50, SILJ will probably go 10x. Mining stocks are the trade of the century. Don't miss it.

>They only have this much money because of central banking
that's only partly true, and they'd likely have similar valuations if the money printer weren't going full blast. Less money but they money is worth more. And they'd be getting better risk-free returns in treasuries.

How important are these boxes and COE's from the US Mint? I have another 40 ounces coming and my safe is almost full due to these damn boxes. I was thinking of taking the rounds out with the COE's to put them in the safe and maybe putting the boxes somewhere else. My 300oz bars take way less space.

there's basically different tiers, although there's a lot of gray areas in the realm of juniors...

majors - these companies produce large amounts of gold/silver, have lots of locations and employees. i don't know if there's really a market cap cutoff, but i would call any producer with a 10+ billion dollar market cap a major. examples would be Newmont, Barrack, Agnico, etc.
midtiers - similar to the majors, just smaller. Yamana, Kirkland, etc.
juniors - some of these companies produce small amounts of metal, but a lot just own land rights, which they hope to either develop or sell off in the future.
royalty companies - these companies have almost no employees, and secure a stream of future metal, in exchange for financing projects. examples would be wheaton precious metal, franco nevada, sandstorm.

if you're in the u.s., keep in mind that most juniors and royalty companies (and maybe even some midtiers, i dunno) qualify as pfic's for tax purposes, and have very onerous reporting requirements if you hold them outside of a tax advantaged account.

They'd be appealing for re-sale. I would assume going into a LCS it'd be a lot nicer to buy a box with a certificate of authenticity in an enclosed, fitted capsule in a nicely printed box than just a big hunk of metal in a plastic flip.

Of gold and silver:

Gold = least risk, most reward
Silver = most risk, most reward

Of miner ETFs:

Large-caps (GDX, SIL) = least risk, least reward
Mid-tiers (GDXJ, SILJ) = most risk, most reward

Therefore, on a scale of risk and reward, physical gold = least risk, least reward, and SILJ = most risk, most reward.

You have to decide what your appetite for risk-tolerance is in making your investment. I myself, for example, have put 100% of my money into junior silver small caps. This means, that, if I am wrong that this is a PM bull market, I'll be wiped out; but, if I am right, I'll make 150x on my investment. You have to decide how certain or uncertain you are about this PM bull market, and allocate your investments accordingly.

Will probably need a bigger safe eventually, but for the time being keep them in the box till you need more room. If you take them out of the box make sure to hide them somewhere as it would tip off an intrusive guest or burglar that you have silver somewhere in the house.

I picked up these today for $40, which is only $.50 over their melt price per. Imma go back and pick up the other two the guy had tomorrow.

You don't want to do that. Barrick is already up. Don't chase it. Be patient and wait in your position. Imagine if you sold SILJ on 18 June, and missed the consequent 70% move higher. The whole mining sector is going to soar because of this investment. It isn't about Barrick in particular. It's a starting-gun to cause a stampede of new money into the industry. SILJ will outperform Barrick by far in the long-term.

Idiot socialists blame these decreases in living standards on "capitalism" when it's the central bank causing these problems.

They also don't understand that taking money from the rich and spending it would simply increase the price of all consumer goods and services. There is basically zero point to eating the rich.
