i'm sure most of the people on here despite bashing BTC use it quite often to buy uhhh... mind and body altering powders/plants
i personally don't but it's was very interesting to see for myself, there is a multi-billion dollar industry with the largest market probably pulling in tens of millions a month
a true free market, it's beautiful

IMO crypto has failed as an actual day-to-day currency in the way btc was originally imagined. Ironically its greatest strength is what stops it from being useful as a currency: it gains in value over time. If you believe something will increase in value as time goes on, why would you sell it if you don't need to? Especially when you also have fiat dollars from IRL. Those are guaranteed to depreciate, so you're going to want to spend those instead.

Future of payments will be stablecoins. Now, stablecoins have some of the same issues as fiat due to being pegged to them, such as losing value over time, but still

yeah, i haven't yet looked into how that whole thing plays out
technically it shouldn't change USDT right? because they still have the same buying power as the USD no matter how much the USD depreciates in value
then again, i highly doubt they actually have all the $ ready to back every single USDT anyway
are crypto backed 150:100 stablecoins like Dai the future? those seem like they're not very fair, or stable desu

In my case it's so I don't get recurring payments on my credit card and also some of the shit I buy I don't want to appear on my bank statement. For my VPN, crypto is perfect because the entire point is to be untraceable, buying a VPN with a credit card defeats the purpose of a VPN imo. Crypto for hosting also helps keep me from getting doxxed. Other than that, you're completely correct, I'll spend my BTC last.

Theoretically the way tether works is there's just a giant locked up bank account of dollars and they issue USDT 1:1 with the dollars they have there. Of course, the whole thing is a fucking scam, but that's another issue.

I really don't understand why anyone uses USDT when USDC exists and is actually audited and accounted for. And of course even that has problems because it still requires trust in a central authority. DAI and other smart-contract based stablecoins are the ideal, although they do have more of an issue staying pegged exactly to a dollar.

Im thinking about accepting crypto for purchases on my online store/subscription service, but I'm torn because most of the people who buy stuff after seeing a facebook/youtube ad are pretty dumb (ie, most of my customer base are morons), and I think a "pay with crypto" button would just turn off the normies, but no one that's actually intelligent is going to buy small impulsive purchases with a highly speculative asset.

Someone intelligent is going to see my ad or website on google or something, then research competing products, then make an informed decision on their purchase without me having to beat them over the head with a sales pitch. Then if they're strapped for cash, they're going to sell some crypto for fiat and withdraw that to a paypal account or something, not just buy it outright with crypto. Intelligent people don't really get caught up in the urgency side of sales, whereas dumb people see an ad for something and think they're going to miss out if the don't buy right fucking now.

Once a major bank adopts and starts offering crypto easily for normies, then I'll probably start accepting it. Normies are all about the illusion of trust, and actually fall for things like pictures that say "100% satisfaction guaranteed", and are conditioned to see things like
>we accept bitcoin
as
>were internet hackers looking to steal your identity
