Any aspiring pilots on biz that plan to buy a plane when they make it?
I'm studying for my PPL now and if I make it I'd love to get pic related

How about helicopters so you can land easier?
Or helicopters suck because they're too slow?

helicopters are for niggers

I need more range than an affordable helicopter could offer.

Hey Anon. Already a pilot here (experimental), might upgrade some stuff with the money or buy a carbon cub and KMS trying to do sick tbushcraft tricks.
that cirrus gives me an erection desu.
Planes are actually not that extremely expensive hobby, especially experimental, and they don't depreciate as much, provided you keep them in working order.

If I make it I’m buying a sea plane, and flying from my Lake House down south, to my Lake house up north in the summer.

Lakes is all I want

I’m just here to help pay for pic related.
Airplanes are very expensive, frens..
But it’s worth it:)

That sounds like a lot of fun!
I'll be primarily using mine for family trips and they want something with all the best safety features, hence the cirrus.
I'd have to REALLY make it to have more than one plane.

Anon, keep in mind a cirrus is a 650k+ airplane. And it’s only a four seater. Sure, they have a parachute but it’s for a reason.
In the aviation community they are called doctor killers. People with money go out and buy them thinking “how hard can it be?” And then die.
So they put parachutes on them. Many rich assholes lives saved since.
Also keep in mind insurance will be well over 10k a year. It will burn 12-18gph fuel and needs annual inspections which cost thousands. Then you have to store it somewhere For a cost or build a hanger. Which will cost hundreds of thousands.
This is all on top of the cost of getting a licence.
A cirrus is not a beginner airplane. Search NTSB crash reports. They are arguably some of the most dangerous airplanes in the sky. Not because it’s a bad plane, but because they are owned by incompetent people.
Food for thought.

More variety is better.
That cirrus is a one trick pony. Fly in a straight line to a well maintained and long runway airport, pretty much.
In pic related, the one on the left is mine. On the right is my old mans.
Both have been in the family for almost 50 years.
I bought mine off my grandpa last year at 28yo. Just got into to crypto.
Realized that I need to be doing more to make it work financially.

This. Too expensive Unless you’re a true multimillionaire with growth on that wealth. And unless you take your flying as fucking serious as cancer treatment, don’t get a private pilots license.

>> No.21378263

>>21374889
I mean with a plane you can at least glide and get to pick where you crash...
Helicopter you only can do that sick ass move where you pitch down and spin the blades fast enough than when you pitch up there's a cushion of air. Fuck helicopters.

I'm trying to make enough crypto gains to pay for a PPL and maybe an experimental canard if I can find one cheap, but stretch goal for supreme success is something like a Lake Renegade, and a house along enough water to land it.

That’s another thing people don’t consider.
With the cost and regulation now, you have to commit yourself to flying. And when I mean commit I mean to the point of not having a social life for chunks of the year. At all.
You have to eat and breathe flying while doing your licence. Flying once a week while in school is a good regime for failure. You have to be doing it 4+ times a week. With multiple hours of studying a day as well for the written exam.
80% of people quit once they realize what’s involved and how expensive it is.
I’m 30yo now. Yea I own a plane..but the things it has cost me can not be measured in dollars.
Do I have a gf? Yea. But I didn’t for years trying to get my shit together so I could fly.
She also knows she’s #2 on the priority list. Because I have stated it openly.
I’ve lost many women over this. Do I regret it?
Absolutely not.
Somethings can’t be measured in dollars. Or even properly explained.
Flying is an addiction just like any drug. Once you’re hooked, you’ll do anything to do it.
