21319095 No.21319095 [Reply] [Original]

Hello friends. I’m new to this whole thing. I’m in college and I want to start practicing investing. What do I need to do to buy some chainlink/btc? I’m completely starting from scratch. Also what is a good initial investment?

Thanks in advance

Find an exchange. Find your crypto of choice. Buy low, sell high. Profit or hold.

I just got chainlink at 15 bucks. Think I fucked up but whatever let’s see

Do NOT buy crypto until you understand what it does, or you'll open yourself up to getting scammed by pajeets. What you need to do is do some research. Understand how bitcoin and blockchain works. Understand how ethereum works and what a smart contract is. That should help you know what projects are worth investing in. Investing without knowing the technology is a sure way to get burned

Yes there's hype around chainlink but you shouldn't take /biz/'s word for it because I'm sure half of anons have no idea what it does either. You maybe very well research it and decide it's actually a bad investment in the long run.

The best investment you can make right now is knowledge

You think 200 bucks is wise to buy chainlink and btc split in the middle? I just signed up with Coinbase.

Fuck I just bought 100$ worth of chainlink and 200$ of btc. I know the basics about btc but have no idea what chainlink is. I figure it’s a typical alt coin right?

yes it's an erc20 token, it's used to pay node operators who provide data to smart contracts, and also to purchase data from oracles

New investor here also. I am doing research learning the ins and outs of cryptocurrency, but I am not sure what platform/app is best to use, or even if I should use multiple platforms. I am familiar with coinbase, but it seems to have limited currencies to buy/sell. Any advice?

I’m an absolute novice at this point? What am I looking for in the research process? Company turmoil? Product viability? Trends in prices? Even then I’m too much of an amateur to know what’s exactly good or bad. Comes with time u guess. I really need to learn trading terminology too.

for crypto just learn how the technology works, and if the product they're offering would be useful to anyone or solves a problem that needs solving. Usefulness gives tokens value in the long run. Also research the dev team or company behind it and see if they have the experience and/or credentials to deliver what they're promising

My advice to you and to any newfag is buy BTC first before anything else, send a small amount of Bitcoin to understand how it works, keep BTC as at least half your portfolio's value, dollar cost average into your position, buy or figure out a secure storage solution for any amount over 5k, and force yourself to actually read whitepapers ( Google search what you don't understand). The last recommendation is to discourage impulse buying and also for your education.

Genuine question since this thread seems to be outside the usual shitting on newbs standard.

How do long term holders go about their daily lives? Take the link mooning (what an original example huh)
Do they check their blockfolio 20 times a day for two years straight? Dump money and forget about it?
I genuinely admire their iron hands

What are you looking for in whitepapers that helps you make an investment decision?

Just whether the technology seems sound?

eventually you get sorta burned out and forget about it for months. then you get that fire up your ass again when you see the numbers pumping again and you just smile at the numbers. by that time, the emotional investment has hopefully passed and you become detached.

Holy based! I bought $200 worth of btc. And $100 worth of link and xrp. Did I do bad? I’m debating whether I should buy more btc or not. Maybe another 3-500 bucks?
