I'm a 25 year old white male living in California with a GED. I'm presentable and intelligent.

I have a shitty $9/hour part-time job.

How do I make enough money for an apartment + bills and food? Kill myself?

What are my options here.

"I'm a 25 year old white male living in California with a GED." Get a real degree not something a fucking 8th grader could get. College sucks but go to community college and think of it as investing in yourself. You could always just get used to living in poverty?

>kill myself

Not a bad idea if you take out a life insurance policy and make it look like an accident.

For now
>Live with roommates
>Buy groceries
>Carpool if possible
>Budget like a demon

For the future
>Go to community college, while working if you have to
>Major in something that will translate into $
>Network. Make friends. Do whatever it takes to get friendly with anyone and everyone you can. Contacts will get you jobs you never even knew were available or that you were qualified for.

get an associates degree or some goddamn certifications/licenses. Businesses would rather hire illiterate mexicans than someone with a GED.

The Microsoft certifications don't have any prerequisites. You could pass some of those exams (about $150/ea) and work as IT support or something.

Even if he saves a couple hundred a month from his job that is not going to put him in a better position without knowledge of what to do with it

Spot on. I know a guy who had full sleeve tattoos on his arms and his neck was covered in ink. He also had no college and just a GED. Went to casino dealer school for 3 weeks and paid 500 bucks and a month later was hired in an Indian casino here as a blackjack dealer. Guy started off making $60k/year and now makes closer to $90k after tips. I also know 3 people that were offered jobs while on unemployment but declined because they make $1800/month without working. Get rid of unemployment insurance or at least limit it to a month? The unemployment rate is guaranteed to plummet.

Except that the difference between South Dakota (lowest unemployment rate) and California is only 5%. Considering all the undocumented illegals (that are working by the way) I wouldn't say that chart is a good judge of available jobs.

>> No.212408

>>212406
would undocumented illegals make it harder for people to find jobs?

>> No.212418

>>212408
Not at all. Illegal or not they comprise of the California population. According to jobs.com there are about 240k available jobs in California and those are just documented listings. There are only 8k in South Dakota (the state with the lowest unemployment rate). It is not that there are no jobs in California it's that there are less people taking them (people that want to live off unemployment insurance or welfare). Which goes back to my original point that if you can't find a job in CA you are either lazy, disabled, or clueless

>> No.212460

An unemployment rate change of 3% makes the difference between 2 applicants for every job created and 17 applicants for every job created. Get your fucking head out of your ass
