People have been saying that about SLV for a while - the question for most people is not whether or not it is true - it's at what point it will matter.

SLV can survive up until the point where shareholders try to actually withdraw more physical from the ETF than it holds. Because SLV has fairly high minimum withdrawal limits, you have to be holding a large volume of shares in the first place to be able to withdraw. Worst case scenario, you will have no way to access your physical backed ETF if society collapses and therefore it is worthless to you, whether the metal is exists or not.

Second worst case, through fraud, theft or otherwise the ETF doesn't actually have the metal they claim to be holding, and when it is discovered your holdings become worthless.

Third issue, ETFs involve management fees which are like a periodic tax to your holdings - shrinking your share of metal over time, whereas 1oz in your hand is always 1oz.

Fourth issue, all ETF gains are going to be traceable and taxable gains, whereas physical holdings can often be sheltered from tax gains very easily. In Canada for example, only physical sales transactions over $1000 are taxable, so if you split your transactions into smaller amounts there is zero tax.

When Europe announced another stimulus plan like a week or so ago, silver popped, I don't see the reasoning behind a bearish outlook for PMs when there is a guarantee that there will be more spending.

I just had a meeting with a very large grizzly bear this morning, so you could say rather common. However I do work often in the middle of nowhere near or around game trails so I have more encounters than the average joe. Big critter was rather confused why a human and dog were standing in the middle of the creek.

My reasoning is that when the package is announced [which it will be - no way they're going to not do it before August 7 deadline / they're going to extend summer session] the dollar will rise as US economy will be expected to do better with the package, stronger dollar = more expensive to buy PM = PM price down

Also, stronger economy = stocks up = less money in hedge asset PM (more money taken away from PM & put into other assets)

Here's what happened last time they approved a stimulus bill, it's certainly not a dollar strengthening event. The amount they have to print to afford it should be an clear indicator that it is not bullish for the dollar
