Right now, you can't. The caps are in place and filled up quickly after v2 launched. Once they remove the caps, then you can go to bancor.network and pool either BNT or LINK (or both) in the pool. If you are a burger, they block US IP addresses. So you can either try a VPN or another pool like xnation.io once they upgrade to V2.

It's not crazy if they can attract institutional money to provide liquidity for a return. Negative rates are pushing capital into riskier and riskier assets seeking a return. Suddenly crypto liquidity pooling looks a lot more attractive with no impermanent loss.

We keep looking at other defi projects to compare, but this market is so young that it's hard to accurately do that. COMP went to 1 billion. This is better than COMP. If defi as a whole continues to grow as it matures, 10 billion isn't crazy at all.

We are in a real negative interest rate environment. Holding Treasuries guarantees a loss of purchasing power. The only way to escape inflation and seek any kind of return is to put the money into riskier assets. Money that would have been sitting in T-bills are now in Gold. Money that was in low yield fixed income are losing real value. They need to find new ways to make a return. V2 REALLY makes defi attractive to institutions because without impermanent loss, liquidity pooling is now pretty safe. Institutions are warming to crypto in a big way. Hopefully, they make defi mainstream....but won't until they've secured their own positions.

i'm not current pooling, but i think it basically works like this: say you're providing liquidity on the BNT side of the BNT-LINK pool. you swap your BNT for BNTLINK tokens (these custom tokens are created for every pool). those BNTLINK tokens basically represent your share of the pool and your right to earn fees. when you wish to withdraw your BNT again, the smart contract assesses to how much BNT you're entitled and gives you an increased amount of BNT.

>> No.21033790

>>21033629
I believe you get pool tokens that represent your share in the pool. You can trade these back to the smart contract to get your initial back + fees and eventual BNT inflation if you stake BNT.

One thing that really blows my mind is this:

BNT value in the pools has to equal all the value of all the other tokens in order to keep te pools balanced.

Just realize that for a second. This means BNT staking will be extremely incentivized with dynamic fees and inflation, and arbers will have to pull BNT from exchanges to balance the pools. (As I understand it).

The first march up to $2 was like today's rise. It was slow and methodical. We did get a modest pullback, but it slowly marched back up. Unlike FOMO, this feels like very savvy buying. I may be a smooth brain, but this is very different from the giant green candles. And that is WHILE having a trading volume of 60% of current MC. This is a LOT of volume. ...or is this all wash trading. Who's the big brain to explain this to me?

Let's imagine a perfect world where multiple token founders want to stake their ICO bags to earn interest and large whales and crypto funds want to use their capital as well. The BNT in the pools will have to EQUAL the staked market cap of all those other tokens combined. That's crazy.

fuck how the fuck am I going to sleep at night now, knowing that BNT is going to change the lives of a bunch of neets on a cambodian underwater basket weaving website.

Are fees earned the incentive for arbitrageurs in order to stabilize price? Is this perhaps why the APR is nuts right now? Because BNT is undervalued?

holy shit if $1B is locked in random token dev ICO bags then BNT locked has to equal $1B as well actually that's crazy when you think about it.

The APR is from the fees. The fees are high because the volume is high. The volume is high because the slippage is low (20x amplification). This is with a $500k capped pool.

>> No.21034752

And if so, is this why there are caps? They don't want a meteroic rise in price yet, but would rather have a stable march upwards...like we have now?

Arbitrage is separate from fee incentive I believe. A more attractive price for the token that needs to be drained from the pool is incentive for arbitrage. Arbitrageur buys from Bancor and sells elsewhere

the caps are in case there turns out to be a smart contract bug, they don't want users to lose funds that the Bancor team will be unable to reimburse. caps will gradually be raised in the first phase of V2 before they are completely lifted
