Not really. It's assumed that there will be some form of "negative" government action. confiscation of metals, multiple lines of swaps at a set rate, or some form of bans are usually suggested. Nationalization of mines is another idea thrown around often. There's really no good sense.

You best believe it will. Listen, why the hell do you think that at least 3 of his nominations to the Fed has been in favor of a gold/precious metals standard? Judy Shelton, Stephen Moore and Herman Cain. He has already restructured the Fed by essentially merging it with the Treasury. These are things that would be completely and utterly unthinkable just 5 years ago.

The purpose of money is as a medium of exchange for other goods. It has no value or purpose other than as a medium of exchange. Let's say you own cattle and you want to buy a house - you exchange your cattle for money, and exchange the money for a house. This is useful because the person who owns the house might not want cattle, but they can use the money in exchange for something else that they want.

Money is only useful as a medium of exchange if it has determinable value. If the value of money fluctuates too much, no one wants it. If you own cattle and want to buy a house, you aren't going to exchange it for fiat currency if it is uncertain how much fiat is needed to buy a house. This is what happens when hyperinflation takes off - the value of fiat becomes so uncertain from week to week (or day to day, or hour to hour, depending on the severity of the inflation) that it is no longer useful as a medium of exchange, and it is abandoned.

There is nothing inherently wrong with fiat as a medium of exchange as opposed to any other form of money - the problem is when fiat is treated like magic money that can be printed into existence at a whim. The problem is banking, and particularly central banking policies that introduce uncertainty into the system by controlling the availability (scarcity) of currency. The reason that PMs are considered good money is because they are durable and the scarcity is relatively fixed over time, which gives them sufficient certainty to function as a medium of exchange.

> where did you get the perception that the USD “should” hold its value? The point has always been to move into other assets.

Essentially every person before the 1960s had precisely this expectation about their money. You saved your silver shillings or dollars or whatever they were called, along with gold if you were lucky enough to have any.

The idea of the average person having an investor mindset would have seemed foolish and irresponsible to the overwhelming majority of people. Speculation and the purchase of stocks and shares in trading and other corporations was only a game for middle class gentlemen and not the average person before the end of the 19th century. A century or two before that, it was the preserve of aristocrats and a handful of (((merchants))).

The ordinary man not only didn’t have the money to risk on speculative investments, but saw little reason to risk what little he had on stocks and bonds that might collapse overnight when he could simply do the wise and sensible thing: put three shillings or so aside every week.

Paganism is just a bad meme while Christianity, the foundation of western civilization, is arguably the most powerful force for stability and prosperity in all of human history. Everything is starting to fall apart as soon as we started abandoning the teachings and wisdom of God.

Thats a helpful chart, what I personally find interesting to know would be the alloy used.
As you can see in this picture the coins have a different color, however they are both 900/1000 gold, that is because the german Reichsmark 20 Mark gold coin is 90% Au and 10% Cu and the persian pahlavi gold coin has a certain amount of silver in the alloy, havent found info about the exact percentage yet...

LARPagans out. While you were busy being Jungian atheists that desperately wanted to believe in something, your betters were coming up with genetics, the big bang theory, germ theory, economics, widespread charity work, and keeping people like you from being left to die of exposure as infants.

What does it tell you that after a people adopts Christianity, the writers of myths die out? Pagan beliefs were fundamentally unsatisfying both for the priest and the philosopher. There is no organic growth of neopaganism because their is no animus behind it, its all the result of an intensely self-aware rejection and contrarianism.

man's passion for gold and silver is fundamentally pagan, probably because we are rising beast, not fallen angels. Lydia was the first coinage, and Greco-Roman civilizations propagated it.

In contrast, we were INDEBTED to God for being born.We were at a deficit for the sins of our ancestors. And he redeemed our debt to him by using his son as payment. Sounds a lot like the logic of fiat, dosen't it? And the same psychology (you know full well who I'm talking about) invented both.

The levantine religions would sooner relinquish themselves of wealth to the needy because there's another kingdom beyond this one. Charity really means enriching the coffer of priests, in the case of Catholics. And protestantism really means absolute poverty as a virtue.

I believe that 1 ounce gold coins are king, because buying a 1 ounce ingot has a much worse liquidity value, since they are much less traded. So I should be investing in coins if I dont have more than 10,000 bucks right?
Now most people buy coins that are issued by countrys governments like Amrican Eagle(USA) Krugerrand(South A) pandas... Now my question is why would someone buy one of those old coins 1700-1800ish from around the world, when their purity is shit, unless it was for their numimastic value??

Pretty much. For gold, coin > bars.

Few reasons. Purity doesn't matter, gold is gold. Buffalo's are .999 and gold eagles are .900, look at the prices for each. Sometimes you can get old euro coins for low premiums, especially if you are a europoor. And it is very nice to own a coin with history. I wouldn't pay a high premium for an old coin though.

The trade-off is boomers won't recognize old 20 franc coins for example.

registered means it belongs to someone, if youre a producer and want to sell on comex you have to first move the bars to the clearing house before selling a contract, because most people dont take delivery, it can stay there for a while until a contract actually calls for delivery and then the clearing house handles the actual delivery instead of the producer which could have sold and settled his original contract a long time ago

eligible is what belongs to comex which is what most people are trading with, its whats used in case a short gets called for delivery and the seller doesnt have the bars for delivery

Person 2: if you let me borrow that oz I'll pay you back in a month
Person 1: okay
Person 2: sells oz, silver drops, buys oz back at lower cost, profits
Person 1: gets oz of silver back.

on the comex, person 1 doesn't own the oz and person 2 never sells or buys it, and person 1 and 2 both profit

given i already have paper investments and my physical silver represents a small portion of my strategy I don't really see the problem.
Although knowing that the dealers are buying my coins back for greater than what I payed for them is just a nice that is all

The comex is truly a mysterious place, where bankers go to perform potent dark magic, turning paper into more paper. Many an alchemist has theorized on the methods but all have failed. All we really know is the wizards who operate the facility are dangerously low on mana

I would trade a bunch of my silver for that coin given the chance. Its beautiful.
If you can afford it go for it but that is not just a bar of gold you buy and sell if necessary that is a coin you keep

Thank you! This ounce feels important. I don't think I will ever sell it. It doesn't seem as nice as canadian maples might be and it's rather thin, so I will have to treat it delicately if it ever comes out. It has lighter and darker patches like the silver version so I wouldn't guess it isn't the best collectors piece for appreciation. just a nice design and cool anti counterfeit measure. the small line/crease you sometimes see in the pictures that goes through the bong hwang from the bottom right vertex seems intentional or necessary. it meets with another line that starts from the bottom left vertex.

That’s median household dumbass not average personal income. Anyways 60-70% of Americans earn less than the average so most Americans are poor if its $65k.

there's risk to all of these
>Counterparty: SLV, GLD, PHYS, PSLV
>Liquidity and Political: miners
>Ownership and Political to a much lesser extent: physical, especially while boating
Due to the cost/difficulty of owning physical being so high, the impossibly large spreads and likely being the lowest risk group, I wouldn't part with it before I let go of some of the miner position (especially if the physical position is small).
