I don't remember where I read that one, but the idea behind it is that you are constantly getting information which has an effect on your subconscious and your perception of reality.

One way to find people who have the right mindset is to search through youtube for channels which don't try to sell you something by showing you how rich they are.
Or look for books written by people you respect.
Unfortunately these types of persons are rare and their time limited, which makes it easier to find them using channels allowing broad asymmetric information diffusion.

I had a similar problem of having cut of my emotions (inner child) and was unable to tell how I felt.
Your emotions are one big set which comprises both good (joy, love,..) and bad feelings (anger, jealousy, dislike, ...)
If you tried to ignore your bad feelings in your childhood what happens is you will create a wall around your emotions which will also block and weaken the strength of your positive emotions at the same time.
You have to reclaim all your emotions and accept them all as they are a part of you.

An interesting thing to look at is how your parents behaved when you were getting bullied.
I think their behavior is part of the reason you let this happen to you.
You could try reading the toxic parents book and follow its therapy if you find the cause of your warped mind.
The key is to become the parent of your inner child possessing your emotions and to be a good one.
You have to recognize the mistakes of your parents, because they are not gods but only human beings with their weaknesses.

About manipulators you have to understand that as long as you react to them they keep their power over you.
The only way to take away a manipulator's power is to be free from the past trauma by rewriting the bad memories into a positive one while processing the bad emotions as if you went through the same situation again.
If you don't care they will have no power over you.

This means you already did a good part of the work on yourself.
That's a good thing.
You should not expect people who did bad things to you to apologize.
They usually won't change and will just ignore it which will reinforce your anger.

The key to solve this is to change your past traumatic memories into happier ones.
The reason you are reminded of bad things which happened is because your subconscious wants to help you overcome them and prevent these events from happening again in the future.
It wants you to give a solution to this past event which won't end up with a new trauma.

For this to work you have to remember the past event until you feel the emotions coming back.
Then find a way to change the events slightly through the way you reacted, or by adding some new components to it if you can't find a solution like a friend supporting you or the situation happening slightly differently.
If you do this well you will feel the release of a very strong energy and happiness emotion and that a burden on your mind disappeared.

But you have to keep in mind this memory will be used as a reference for your future interactions if a similar situation occurs and also as a basis for your subconscious self-worth and general decision making process.
Find a good solution which satisfies you without becoming a monster yourself, and try to imagine this change as something which makes you a better person.
