Don't sell unless you need money. You won't time the top. And BTC likely won't ever correct more than 50%. So overall it'll be in your best interest to hold this superior money/currency/asset what's a 30,40,50% loss on something you're up 500-1000% matter.

LINK is the ETH of this bullrun and DeFi is the new ICO.
Expect old shitcoins to be revived as DeFi (already happening), new shitcoins to be launched as DeFi (already happening) and all the same charlatans, frauds and hucksters to make a lot of noise.
Chainlink should be your core holding and you should transfer whatever gains you make on shitcoins into LINK.
Bear in mind the biggest gainers of 2017 were total shit. Nobody who understood crypto would have bought Verge. So the biggest gainers of DeFi won't necessarily be the best projects, but they will also crash the hardest.
Pay attention to who is buying in. As soon as it starts to break into the public consciousness, as soon as people start asking you about "DeFi" who have paid no attention to crypto since 2017, it's time to start taking profits. If it gets on the evening news and goes vertical then DEFINITELY take profits. Doesn't matter if you don't sell the very top, there is always plenty of room to crash.

This bullrun will create more long standing projects than the last one. The last one was like they'd just powered on the first computer, now that computer has basic internet. Remember we are still a long way, and probably another full bear period, away from the widespread global smart contract revolution, but if you take decent profits, hedge into stablecoins, ride the hype, and GET OUT when the wind runs out of the sails, you will be comfy sailing through to 2022 onwards when it really starts happening on an industrial scale.

My advice to you is this:
>only invest what you are willing to lose, if it's a scammy project.
>always cash out your initial if your shitcoin goes on an insane run
>don't all-in on anything
>have a decent amount of your portfolio in btc/eth
>be signed up and ready(funds available) on multiple exchanges
>use limit buy/sell orders
>use a stop loss if you are going to hold something stupid overnight

put 50$ in crypto right now, go on uniswap, and buy like 5 random shitcoins that aren't 100% a scam. add the transaction to your blockfolio.

then buy a top 100 crypto you think will have the best performance during the next bullrun and put it in a wallet and let it rot

now you only need to check blockfolio once a day and see how much on average your shitcoins are worth. once they are worth 100x (+10000% from now), that's when you should sell your main stack

Guys, i have a different opinion desu. The momentary bullrun in btc is not a crypto tulip madness, it's a move of money to a place that proved to be a halfway decent wealth storage. All over the world, currencies are massively devalued through money printing, at the same time btc proved to be somewhat stable also during the march selloffs. People start seeing it as a valid wealth storage due to the limited coin amount comparable to gold which is caped by its scarcity. My prediction is a relatively strong move to 20k, some smaller profit takings and than a solid and stable move up. If the world accepts crypto as wealth storage in a low interest and high inflation environment, the limit for proven cryptos will be set very high.

Take profits on the way up. It's WAY harder than it sounds. Imagine the following
> you turned $5k into $400k (80x) over a few months
> everyone around you is finally starting to wake up to the things you have been saying for a long time
> you're making tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars every week
Why would you sell now? You ask yourself. You only need a measily 2.5x to become a millionaire. That's nothing compared to the 80x you've done so far. And the way things are going now you will probably reach $1MM within a few weeks (or even days!!).

Of course there's no guarantee (FAR from) your portfolio will 2.5x just because it 100x'd or 1000x'd in the past but it's VERY easy trick yourself into thinking that it's easy to 2.5x your money. And that's how bubbles form. When things go up for long periods of time it seems like free money. People who aren't invested or sold recently seem like idiots (they missed out on huge gains!!). You're not one of those idiots, are you? Of course you will hold a little longer. But the thing is that you probably told yourself the same when your portfolio was $100k. And when you reach $1MM you will probably keep telling yourself the same.
But at some point the crash WILL come. And it won't come when everyone is bearish on crypto. It will come when crypto seems like an obvious investment. And at first everyone (including you) will think the crash is just a small correction/ dip before the market continues up. But suddenly you've lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Suddenly you start to realize just how much money you had at the top and that it will take you years to get that money back (if ever). Suddenly you realize how much a retard you were for not just selling 20% on the way up..

Set out some CLEAR guidelines on when you will take profits, e.g. sell 25% when you reach $200k, 33% when you reach $300k etc.
It's A LOT more painful to lose most of your gains than it is to miss out on extra gains.

SELL.

That's the biggest sell signal of all.

>>20888272
>I don’t know when to sell either
Nobody does.
Last bullrun, BTC went from below $200 to $20000.
Most great traders sold at $7k.
And that's okay.
Very few managed to sell the top of $20k.

The key is to stop watching the price once you sell, thinking "what might've been".
Do NOT fomo into the top.
You're out, don't go back in.

The only time to rebuy is when everyone thinks crypto is over, there seems to be no bottom, everything is ending and nothing is bouncing, and the price has been crashing since forever. Where if you were still holding, looking at the chart makes you want to vomit and cry.

Been in crypto since mid 2017, as I was managing my brother's eth mining rigs. Up to March 2018 I was all in BTC, and after that all in LINK, and sold it at 4$. LINK was a great investment at the time, but currently it's overpriced compared to what Sergey delivered (barely anything of value)
Currently together with my brother we're all In BSV. I know how it sounds, but the only FUD in BSV is CSW. Tech wise BSV is years before fools in core, ETH and any other project that is in the whole world. nChain holds hundreds of patents essential in this space, and up to thousand fillings have been made. BSV doesn't have any blocksize limit, which makes it as scalable as miners infrastructure will let for. On top of BSV there are being built hundreds of apps. We also have partnerships with EHR, to pump data on blockchain. My own country's ministry of agriculture has spoken with nChain about supply chains. This gem is being fudded here by outside groups just like LINK was fuded on reddit. Don't fall for core propaganda, and especially fuders, that want to accumulate below $1k. This is different than the ico scams. Even retarded erc20 do nothing tokens with no website or no anything had trouble in 2017.

On uniswap the token owner can simply buy from himself with ETH to wash trade it to make it seem like it's pumping. This might only cost a few hundred dollars worth of gas. All they need are a few people to scoop up their bullshit and they make a ton of money. Copy pasting these scam defi contracts creates a self sustaining feedback loop as they dump worthless tokens daily into the contract and keep roping more and more people in who are paid in tokens. The whole time they are selling. When the steam begins to run out they rug pull and mass dump the tokens and let the contract run on its own as they exit.

bitcoin og here. make yourself familiar with the bubble chart. there will be a gradual run up, followed by the first sell off, followed buy a couple months of fomo. then it will crash and bleed for years. btc and eth will be first to pump. then mid caps. then low caps. everything will pump during the 2 months of fomo. just hold. only sell everything when you think bitcoin has topped. could be 30-60k maybe even higher. yfi will be the best performing crypto in the gradual run up.

I just talked to my mother a few hours ago and the first thing she said was "how's your crypto doing? bitcoin was in the paper"

>> No.20895134

Look at the 2013 BTC crash and recovery, and gold and silver compared with BTC and alts 2017-2019. BTC is to alts as gold is to silver. Crowds react the same to a larger scarce asset forcing a smaller less scarce asset. Except crypto is smaller than precious metals so it happens faster.

We’ll see, but my prediction is three distinct phases on the bull run up to $100k end of 2021:

1) BTC to run up to $20k and pull back. During this run up alts will dominate the gains

2) BTC to run up to $55k. This is where everyone starts piling in when they see it’s reached ATH. Alts will *generally* underperform BTC during this phase. The market will pull back to like $35k due to the round number

3) BTC to recover again, then mania will spread. Alts will outperform BTC during this phase. It will race to just beyond $100k then the sell off will begin and the bears will feast. It *may* go up as high as $200k - $300k based on stock to flow.

So my plan: hold small alts until $20k, think about selling off into BTC and ride to $50k, then go back into alts for the final straight.

biggest mistake I made was not selling any on the way back down, just carried stack for months & years. so biggest key is to time sells.

The main key is to wait for the blow off top at insanely high volume (pic related). Clear indication that a mania just ended

Then sell in chunks on the way down & on the dead cat bounce, ignore every person speaking about crypto at this time, ignore any bullish narratives no matter how legit they appear. they don't matter for the price action at that time.

If you see this hit on the charts it's gonna be time to get the fuck out, then can re-enter after a significant retracement if desired (in batches again)

Current portfolio is 40%BTC, 40%LINK, 10%XRP. I think next payday I may buy ETH to match my LINK/BTC or push my BTC closer to 70%. I think XRP/LINK are the only coins I'm willing to invest in other than ETH and BTC. XRP worries me more than LINK, but if it actually goes above .35 I'll probably transfer to BTC. I'm trying my best not to become a total degenerate penny stock/shitcoin gambler and think I will hit millions overnight. I just want to be able to be able to own an acre or two of land and have a small house.
