You really need to just read the website.

It attempts to increase or decrease the supply to maintain a $1 price peg. In order to keep it from over / under correcting it doesn't do that in one day, but rather the average it would take to do it over 10 days.

As far as if it's better to buy now or after it's entirely dependent on price action. In a supply / demand equilibrium it would make zero difference. If you bought 100 before rebase at $2 and it rebased 10% you would have 110 tokens at $1.81 (you'd have $200 before and after the rebase).

No, you've got it. AMPL is different because the supply changes itself to match the marketcap so all collaterization in dollars equals the supply and it evens out to 1$. The reason it isn't a dollar now, is because the demand is so high, and the supply so low, that it hasn't yet reached stablization.

In theory, once the marketcap gets big enough that every whale is now a minnow, nobody will be able to disturb the price, and all the $1 AMPLs are backed and actually collaterized by something other than debt or "Just trust me bro"

So if you have $1 worth of purchasing power you could by $1 worth of bread.

Price of a market traded asset is the value, measured in some kind of money/currency, at which you can acquire or sell such asset. So if you want to buy $1 worth of bread you need $1 worth of money. You could have ¥100 instead and in that case you might to exchange it for the asked currency.

What now?

If I have $1 worth of AMPL I couldn't give less of a shit if it's 2 AMPL at $0.50 or 0.5 AMPL worth $2. Why would I care? I care about the amount of product I can buy with my assets. If any of those scenarios then stabilize to 1 AMPL at $1 then my autism is satisfied but that's it.

Yes, and a lot of people miss this. It will be 'backed' by everyone who seems the amount of purchasing power in 1 of these units as favorable to an ever inflating stablecoin, that eventually takes value from you.

As you can see, this first model is preferable to second one, which is why this project will succeed. No one wants to have value taken away from them because of inflation - yet people want a currency that they can be liquid in, and spend from. Deflationary currencies do not incentivize this.
