It should be more like $400 per month. With that said, unemployment is a pure safety net, as in "just enough to feed and house yourself until you find work", not your reliable backup plan for all eternity. Latest estimates have unemployment down to ~10% now and there is work available to find, this is the only responsible thing to do unless you want to create a new bunch of dependents.
