It wasn't even a bad idea, they wanted to do something similar to what Synthetix is doing right now with SNX to mint sUSD, using JNT as collateral for stablecoins. But they were not smart enough to pull it off and got lost doing useless things like a wallet and fiat backed tokens.

yep. JNT as it was originally introduced to us was very forward thinking at the time and the market had a huge need for it..... the team was just fucking retarded about it though and like you say, spent all their efforts building a foundation they didn't need, like a god damn 'institutional' wallet.
