Cards aren't just a hobby anymore; they're a real asset class. Gary Vee is involved in the market, and the number of people investing in cardd is rapidly increasing every day, as are prices, of course. There are tens of thousands of people making real money (as in millions of dollars) on this stuff.

Parents cleaned my shit out a few years ago and found my old pokemon cards, had most of the basic set and about half of jungle set, threw down about 2k filling out basic and getting all holographic Jungle.
Now I'm gonna put them away and find them in another 20 years and see what they're worth then

How did they get stuck up there?

Onions culture is at its peak right now. 20 years from now for Pokemon is like asking where Beanie Babies will be 20 years from the late 90s.

Shelved them right up there so the other kids couldn't steal them, having a holographic charizard basically secured your place on the social ladder

Sure, I don't see why not. Eventually someone like Gary Vee with deep pockets will corner the market on the sealed product and then it will go to the moon.

There's a BIG difference between the 1600s or even the 1990a compared to now: we social media now. That's why cards are here to stay.

Lol I saw an ad for 5k on my local Facebook. I’ve seen a couple on OfferUp but you have to snipe them. They will literally be gone within 5-10 minutes

>they're a real asset class
they're a tax and insurance write off for wealthy people, that's true.

but not really an asset since banks won't lend you money against them. I mean they might if it's an extraordinarily valuable card with superb provenance and documentation, but realistically they want you to also be rich because they know they're never going to get their collateral out of a one day auction on the street corner. Collectibles are the worst 'asset' you can walk into a bank or government office with.

Curio/Curv token could get in on this. You could own 1% of a Charizard card.

But pokemon cards are only relevant for a small slice of the population. Zoomers and boomers don't care, nor will anyone following. They'll go up in price for a short while but after that nobody will care

It can be great but we would need to see the cards , can't really say shit without knowing what cards and their conditions.
Condition is everything i think a charizard psa 10 is worth 20k-40k while a psa 9 is like 8k-12k
