By the same reasoning, where you sell your art is important. Your modern art isn't likely to sell if you hang it in some country pub or grandma's seaside cafe. Perhaps find a city gallery that deals in abstract designs? Or email/visit/send samples like the image you posted (not actual artwork) to modern trendy businesses such as coffee houses and hotels (independents probably a better bet than chains)? Unfortunately those businesses are not doing too well at the moment either, but it never hurts to try and get your name out there a bit.

I know, and it's a good idea if you want to show samples of what it would look like in different settings.

Your second sample looks more like designs than art. Definitely very niche. I have no idea where you could sell that second sample.

A good start, but you still have to get people to look at it. Art shows, competitions, galleries, commissions, etc to get your name out there. Art is very much a difficult business until you get a name for yourself or work for a firm. You will have to make what the client wants, rather than just going where you want to go.
