You suddenly remember you forgot to fill up your gas tank on the way to work, and realize you’ll now pay more and be stuck in a long line. Your salary this month will be woefully inadequate to pay for basic necessities. The government is trying to work out an official “inflation adjustment.” Good luck with that, you mutter.

Actually there's a big difference. If the US dollar measured in foreign currency rises with the price of gold measured in the US dollar it means both the dollar and gold are rising together which means the dollar may not collapse.

But that isnt what is happening. The dollar is dropping while gold has just broken 1900 so people obviously no longer see the dollar as a safehaven and are moving into precious metals

In this crazy ass world were in right now the premium on nuggets is almost %150, they are being bought out faster than guys like me can dig them up. I sell my nuggets to a set of buyers in Vancouver, Seattle and Victoria, I used to sell them online sometimes but Ebay is such a cesspool of fraud I gave up.

Some guys only work in juniors, which is great if they find deposits and sell then/develop them. I'd check the share price of companies they work at/have worked at.

Southern Empire Resources Corp own several major past producing mines in two well known gold / silver camps in California and Nevada. Depends. The general standard is that Silver is valued at a full day's pay for the average worker; whereas 1oz Gold is valued at a tailor-made suit. Now obviously price has fluctuated (notably with Silver suppression in the last 50-70 years) but most people here generally can agree that both Silver and Gold will at minimum triple in spot price once the spike occurs. Previous spikes have varied too, with most reaching x5 to x9 price
And then you've got however much on top you want to add for premiums (not just because you want to scalp more bennies; but also to make back the premium you lost, and how much local amounts will affect demand). I don't think salt would return to its historical value except possibly in places that are ice-free year-round. We have a greater understanding of insulation and lots of such material lying around that we could make more effective iceboxes than people did in the past.

You are correct on refrigeration you could power your garage deep freeze with a solar panel and small battery that is how little power it uses.
I could keep something like that running for some time with my knowledge at least as long as I am alive assuming I have parts to scavenge.

People who think we will ever go back to bartering with food and lighters and shit is insane. The economy is far too complex for this coincidence of wants to ever occur. Yes many people will be impoverished and mortgages car loans will default and food will be more expensive but it will be a slow grind and the complexity will still be there and goods and services will only increase in complexity.

It won't be an apocalypse, all we need is to let all the people who can't pay their debts default, flush out all the overpriced over leveraged assets and reset everything on real values based on real needs.

Now consider that at current spot price, working 200 days a year for 1oz/day is equal to $4,540 per year. Working 50 weeks a year for 1oz/week would be about $1,135 per year.

I'm not saying that's where this shit is going, but it's an interesting perspective and piece of history, and noteworthy that there are still many countries around the world that would fall within 1oz = 1 day labour, and a few where 1oz = 1 week.

I'm also a fan of buying cheap PSA AR's when they are on sale, or at least lowers. Those probably won't be easily accessible within 20 years.

ive been buying up 1-3 ounces every paycheck so far ive got a little over 10 ounces. looks like silver has gained, do you still buy now? i really like the loaf type but i see you have to pay a premium for it. it allows me to spend but at the same time spend it on stuff i can resell, but ive managed to put it in a small treasure chest and larp as a pirate for now. will silver ever hit 50 an ounce or even 100? especially with this stimulus.
